Simpson Eagle - Pure Badger

I have a love-hate relationship with this brush.: I love the handle (it's my favorite) but hate that it eats my face as effectively as it eats my soaps. Yet I can't see myself parting with it. Maybe one day the knot will magically soften (Pure badger hair is known to do that right?? :001_unsur ). Hope springs eternal...

Any of you have brushes you're ambivalent about? Are there brushes you hate using but hate the idea of selling even more?

I had a Simpson Special in pure that was just too tight and scritchy but after some time, it loosened up and it was still scritchy but in a "exfoliatingly" refreshing manner.

I have a Duke 3 in Best that is inexplicably scratchy. I haven't given up on it yet, though.

For your issue, have you tried face lathering with a painting motion? Contrary to popular belief, it is a very effective way to face lather, and it minimizes the scratch from Pure badger brushes, which you would feel in spades lathering in a circular motion.

I'm a painter when it comes to face lathering and the method is usually sufficient for my other scratchy boars. But this Pure Eagle is something else: it still manages to claw and bite my face unexpectedly even when carefully applied.

I guess it's true: honey [how do you do strike-throughs??] pure badger don’t care.

Thanks, German. Your Eagle is really sweet, too. Evidently you have buy a two-band to get a Simpson sticker without wrinkles

And for the record, the Eagle handle is by far the greatest handle design EVER. What I wouldn't give to have a Simpson Eagle handle with a fan shaped head of Thaeter two-band.

That is sweet...
So how would someone contact Simpson for something like that?

Rudy Vey may help if you provide the knot...

How about steaming the knot out and replacing it with a TGN Finest 2-band? This is probably heresy, but it would be cheap!

Email Simpson from the contact page on their website. They get back to you quickly. I emailed yesterday with a silly question and received a reply this morning.
