Silvertip shedding?

Hello folks.

I have a BK8 I've been using since early last week, and it's shedding. The first time I soaped it up it lost probably 4 hairs. Every badger brush, with the exception of my Thater, I ever gotten has shed a bit and stopped after a couple of uses.
It happens every time with the BK8. A hair or two every lather. How long should this go on before I should start to wonder? What are your experiences?

Mine shed probably one or two each shave for about a week or two. If it's just a hair or two each shave, give it another week or so; I'm guessing it'll die down.

Doesn't sound like anything excessive yet. My BK 8 shed something like yours for a few outings then stopped. Yours probably will too. Give it some more time, at least a couple more weeks.

I'd give it at least a month of day-to-day use and revisit at that point. A hair or two every shave is not something really to be concerned about.

I have a Shavemac that's shed over 200 hairs easily since I got it 5 months ago. I have had shaves when it shed as many as 24 hairs. Now, it sheds maybe 2 or 3 per shave. I contacted Shavemac and I've been monitoring it and they've said that I could send it back to them for inspection.... but I'm probably just going to ride it out and since it's let up considerably since I first got it. It still works and I bought it used, so I'm not going to fuss too much with it. It'll probably last for years and will be fine, but if I had bought it new, I probably would send it back after the amount of shedding it has done. With yours, I'd follow the above advice and give it some time. At least a month.

My silvertip is an EJ. It lost one hair on the first use and none since. Same with my EJ best. My Omega boar lost 3 in total. I'd probably be stressing if I lost as many as you but I wouldn't know if I was stressing for nothing.

The BK8 has a large knot so a few hairs doesn't amount to much. It's not coming out in clumps, but I've never had a brush that kept losing them. I'm not going to stress it because that helps nothing, but I will follow-up and contact Kent if it continues past a month. The big dumb brush deserves it.
