Silicon Carbide as a bevel setter?

lots of great razors arent straight. as long as they arent a frown.

some prefer a slight sweep to absolute straight, that references the spine sweep and may have been manufactured that way

I definitely don't recommend stroking a straight razor on silicon carbide. It didn't give good feedback and doesn't remove much metal. I think a Shapton glass stone is the best one I've used thus far.

A convex stone will adjust to an imperfect blade. The varying edges will move, bit by bit, along the hill of the convex stone. TSS sells them.

Also about rusting, take a cloth and soak it with Ballistol. Keep it in the bathroom. Wipe the razor with the ballistol soaked cloth before putting it away. It will never rust, even if kept in the humid bathroom.
