My #15 was my "holy grail" razor. It is beautiful, heavy and shaves great. But the razor that was the RAD killer for me was one that caught me completely off gaurd. After a year and a half of "advancing" to increasingly more aggressive razors, I pulled an old pre-war Ball-end Tech out of the drawer for a week long vacation in Mexico. I had used it for a short while when first getting into DE shaving. During the trip, I was amazed at what an effortless BBS shave I was able to get. I've since bought a mint Fat-handled Tech (for $4, before the price of Techs seemed to jump) that is my favorite razor. Nothing shaves as close as easily. I have a dozen razors that see frequent use, but none as often as the lowly Tech.

Mike

And yet another way of rephrasing the "What would be your desert island razor be" question.

Not at all, My Rad Killer isnt My best shaver its my most admired, Two Very Different Post's. And this is a show me thread not a tell me thread like the deset island thread.

Now for My Desert island Razor it would Probably be a 1914 or 1912 SE :001_tongu See the Difference Now Ras120 ?

For me My Rad Killer Razor is one i would just cherish and Admire, Nothing to do with my best shaver, as my best shaver isnt the best looking guy i have its a 1914 or 1912 SE Razor. Ive never tried a Fat Handle Tech, Maybe i should, Which ones shave better, Triangle slots or British flat bottom plate ? I know there are different ones that some.
prefer )

I don't think there will ever be a RAD Killer for me ... I've got maybe 40~50 DEs, 7 in active rotation with 3 alternate handles, and I still want more.

But this is my current Crown Jewel of my collectibles ... a German Bakelite Slant with case. If you think about the movie Cabaret (Joel Gray, Liza Minelli) its from that era.

Ah, got it. You should have specified that you were talking about collecting.

For me, it would be my #21 set. It was the last high-end set I chased down and was the most difficult and costliest one to obtain. I just love the look of the blue and cream case.

NOW Thats what im talking about, thats some sweet eye candy right there :thumbup1:

I had a pretty quick onset case of RAD. Bought up a bunch of vintage Gillette TTO's. After I got my Fat Boy, Birth Quarter Slim, red tip, blue tip and a few others, I began to slow down. Of course it may have had something to do with buying a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited... For now, I'm showing some restraint in the DE shaving department, working through my soaps and creams and trying different blades in the Slim to work on my technique and figure out my first 100 blade purchase (It is looking like Gillette Blue's or Blacks at this point).

So Here is my RAD Killer:

That's awesome! How does Jeep Wrangler Unlimited shave? That black finish is cool. Is it a replate? And it's got a light just like those fancy special edition Gillette Fusion thingamabobs....good to illuminate ur Adams apple I guess. Say, where do you get blades for that?

For me this year it's been this little beuty. A 69 super adjustable. After not getting on with the other three I had, this one (number 4) has given me the best shaves I've had for a long time. Cuopled with my FS 26 chubby horn and some arko.
