I love the small bowls that come in the VDH kits; they fit right in the palm of your hand perfectly. If I could find a good rugged earthenware bowl like that it would be my ideal lather bowl since the VDH ones are hit or miss as to whether or not you get a good one that won't break easily.

I use 2 of these, one for hot water under the other for lathering. It is about 4 inches in diameter and 2 inches deep on the inside. They do not nest well so there is about 1/2 cup of water that can fit in the space. After a few minutes soak in a sink of hot water, then the bottom bowl filled with hot tap water it keeps nice and warm for a bit.

I asked for a scuttle for Christmas.

Works great! I do wish it was just a scosche (maybe 1/4") more shallow. But still, it works great.

Got that same bowl in blue. I set it inside a larger cafe au lait bowl filled with hot water bought at the dollar store and it works well. You're right about the depth thing, but I'm not complaining.

$5 mug from Cost Plus. Larger than a coffee mug but smaller than a cereal bowl. With my thumb in the handle, this thing feels perfect in my hand.

I like the bowls that come with the Gentlemens Best soaps. If I use creams I usually use my Old Spice shave mug or my shave bowl that came with my Merkur Futur set

It really works great! I let it soak in hot water while I shower and it holds the heat throughout my shave. Plus the textured interior really helps the lather whip up.

Thank you! I picked it up at one of my local discount department stores.. It was either at Marshall's, Ross or Stein Mart.

I've seen them at the local Bed, Bath and Beyond as well.

I used it again today actually!
