Shout out to Ray and Gentlemen's Best

All,

I happened to be near Southington CT this weekend for a wedding and took the opportunity to hit up Ray at his shave shop, The Gentlemen's Best

All I can say is...if you're ever even remotely in the vicinity of this shop, its WELL worth the stop and as someone who appreciates wetshaving and all its intricacies...you'll regret not stopping if you pass it by!

Ray was more than kind enough to open his shop up to me and my twins stroller (as SWMBO only let me go if I took the kids ). We chatted DEs, str8s and just the basic details of running his shop. Awesome guy, awesome display of both vintage gear and supplies you can purchase!

I highly recommend you swing on by next time you're in CT. You can shop all you want to online, but we all know there is something special with walking in a brick and mortar store devoted to our niche hobby. Ray has his shop decorated in a way only we B&Bers can appreciate and has enough kit to make you feel like a kid in a candy store!

Thanks again for your time today Ray

It really is a great shop. There's product there at all price points, so don't think you need to roll up with a ton of cash to spend. Plus, it's worth the trip just to sneak a peek at Ray's incredible collection of vintage gear on display.

Also, if I've not mentioned it before. Ray makes some hand made bath soap and the stuff is purely wicked. It gives the best lather I've ever come across and it lasts FOREVER.

I got some Provence Sante Green Tea shaving soap the last time I was there. The stuff is great on its own. But here's a little secret I've discovered: It makes a beautiful smelling and performing superlather when paired with just a touch of Proraso. The two mix wonderfully. Give it a try.
