Should I Switch?

I'M BACK TO DE SHAVING AFTER ABOUT 20 YEARS. I'VE BEEN SHAVING WITH MERKUR 38C. IT WORKS WELL. I'VE BEEN USING DERBY (VERTICAL PRINT AND WILKINSON SWORD.)

SHOULD I GET THE VISION, FOR A CLOSER SHAVE? I LIKE THE 38C, BUT I READ ABOUT ADJUSTIBILITY FACTOR. CAN I GET A CLOSER SHAVE WITH THE VISION? IT LOOKS COOL, AND I'VE RED SOME GREAT REVIEWS. I CAN TILT THE 38C AT DIFFERENT ANGLES, AND I CAN PULL MY SKIN.

IT SEEMS MOST RAZORS ARE NOT ADJUSTABLE. I WAS GOING TO GET THE VISION, BUT THEN I TOOK THAT INTO ACCOUNT.

**ALSO, ARE THERE THE PROBLEMS WITH CONSISTENCY IN RED "ISRAELI" PERSONNAS; AS I HAVE RED ABOUT WITH THE DERBYS?

I'd recommend the Futur over the Vision. Just a better ovarall razor IMHO. The Personna is my go-to blade. Haven't detected any inconsistencies with the ones O've used.

Do yourself a favor and do some browsing on the BST here before you make a purchase.
What you are looking for may come up at a reduced price, and you may just find that a vintage adjustable like a Slim, or a Fatboy or a Super Adjustable may be right up your alley!

Welcome back to wetshaving, and welcome to B&B, the greatest board on the net!!

(and turn off your CAPS lock)

On that note Mark, Your SOTD pics are reeeaally tempting me to get a gold Futur :tongue_sm

I have the Vision, the Futur and the Progress. I'd actually go with the Progress with the Futur a close second. The Vision's not bad, but I don't think it is worth the extra money.

I'm not sure about how long you have been back shaving after your break, but IMHO there are a lot of factors which will influence the quality of your shaves not just the razor that you are using. If you are making 3 or 4 quality passes with your current set-up and you are not satisfied, then it might be worth the change....... otherwise, it might be better to work on your technique a little.

I have used an hd, hd slant, and a future in the last year and I really like them all. The futur has worked the best for me out of the 3 of them. It is all the razor I will ever need.

Yes the head is a little big but I haven't had any problems with it, just takes a little getting use to. It is a very heavy razor, thats a good thing to me but if you like lighter razors the weight may be a negative point.
