The Shooting Sports and Firearms Forum was opened to split the discussion of firearms from the Great Outdoors. While much of the great outdoors involves the use of firearms, firearms do not fit snugly in that sector alone.
Many do not feel the same acceptance for gun ownership and use as they do for Fishing Rods or even Archery equipment. For that reason, we have selected the Shooting Sports and Firearms Forum to be a place where members can discuss firearms without impinging upon the members who do not share that level of enthusiasm.

The Shooting Sports and Firearms Forum is indeed the place where you can discuss the responsible use, care and storage of legal firearms and legal firearms accessories.
The Shooting Sports and Firearms Forum is the place where you can discuss hunting, target shooting, home defense, concealed carry, reloading and many of the other fascinating aspects of gun ownership.

What the Shooting Sports and Firearms Forum is NOT;

The Shooting Sports and Firearms Forum is NOT a place to initiate the trade, sale or gifting of any firearms or firearms related accessories. Members involved in this behavior either through post or PM will be removed from B&B.
The Shooting Sports and Firearms Forum is NOT a place to discuss the Second Amendment.
The Shooting Sports and Firearms Forum is NOT the place to discuss the moral, religious, social or other belief systems relating to gun ownership.
The Shooting Sports and Firearms Forum is NOT THE PLACE to discuss your objection, dissatisfaction, protestation or any other negative statement regarding the legal ownership and use of guns or firearms.

As in all things B&B, politics isn't welcome here, and everyone is expected to behave in a gentlemanly fashion.

The rules for the Shooting Sports and Firearms subforum:

Some of you may remember and occasionally visit the Brown Leaf forum, dedicated to the finer aspects of tobacco and the gentlemanly smoking thereof. We don't "do" the "smoking is bad for you ... lung cancer ... yada yada ... second-hand smoke ... blah blah" threads there. Why not?

Because.

That's why. Okay ... okay ... it's to keep contentious arguments out of B&B, and to give the pipe-puffers and the cigar-chuffers an oasis of calm wherein to discuss the enjoyment of their interest ... without any risk of having to engage in a debate about the merit (or lack thereof) of their interest or to have to defend their decision to light 'em um and inhale.

Ditto here.

This is an oasis for the discussion of the technical aspects, performance, and general enjoyment of firearms. Every member of B&B ought to be able to come here and engage in those discussions without fear of any risk of having to hear discussions about the Second Amendment, gun laws, gun control, and what-not. And yes, that includes keeping "God bless the Second Amendment" comments, and other comments of that ilk, out of here.

If your comments that you are about to post include the phrase "it's my constitutional right to ...", the phrase "the laws in this State are ...", then just don't post.

(If you are looking for a recommendation for a firearm which meets specific requirements of your State laws ... 'looking for a good 8-gauge shotgun ... needs to be at least 24" long to meet local gun laws" ... that can be okay. But comments need to stick to "here's a good gun that meets your requirements" rather than "those laws are stupid/good".)

And ...

... if ...

... you ...

... see ...

... a ...

... post ...

... that breaks these rules, or "pushes the envelope" ...

Hit the "Report post" button, and walk away in silence.

Gents - a reminder - PLEASE.

If someone comes in trolling or being political - DON'T ANSWER IN KIND.
It just makes clean up all that much harder for us.

Just report the post, and if it falls outside our guidelines, we'll take care of it.

As we're on a one strike your out format here - an individual trolling or politicking will not have the opportunity to post in this forum again.
Don't join 'em with a spur of the moment retaliation made in anger.
