Shoe polish question

Yes. I would suggest putting on more than one coat and letting it air dry between buffing. The minimum I would do is two. Sometimes I even put up to four coats of wax, especially if I know I'm going to be working in wet weather. It really helps to wick away the water. I work in security and I'm talking about leather boots.

I would say absolutely so. Some more than others, perhaps. Lincoln, as I recall, calls itself a "staining wax" or something to that effect, which I assume refers to a high pigment content that can cover scrapes and scuffs. I understand that Saphir polishes are even more intensely pigmented than the waxes. I assume we are talking waxes and lotion type polishes. Liquid polishes would certainly cover scrapes and scuffs, but I would not recommend them as overall shoe polishes.

I used to use a liquid shoe polish as an "edge dressing." If i had scrapes I might put a little of that on the scrape. "DriRite" or something like that. Hard to get these days. Very old school stuff. I would still not use it for an overall shoe polish. I hate most edge dressings. Too shiny. Too drippy. Slow to dry.

I was going to use some Melitonion polish that that comes in in a little 2 ounce jar. I guess it could be referred to as a creme polish.

Thanx!!!

Yes!
i strip mine every few months and rough up the leather and then Kiwi the heck out of them.
for a normal shine just a couple of coats and rub in good to blend in the scuff and then buff.

Should work. If it doesn't you can always then seek out some specific scratch cover from a shoe repair shop or whatever. Lots of products out there.

DyanShine is the liquid shoe polish I was trying to think of. I think the box it used to come in referenced "coloring scuffs." I doubt there was anything special about it in that regard, though!

Yup...

That is one of the nice things about actually taking care of your footwear. Cleaning and polishing a pair of shoes is much like polishing a car. You rejuvenate the top layer.
