Shim required for Bigelow-Parkin razor?

I have a Bigelow-Parkin razor (small folding travel razor). I want to use it but need advice concerning using a shim--is it necessary? If yes, can I make one from a used DE blade? If so, any hints how to do it? Any experience you have with this razor will be appreciated!

Blade shimming when using a razor designed to use thick blades is necessary only if a modern blade fits loosely or the razor shaves too mildly when using modern blades. A shim can be made from an old DE blade by using shears to remove the cutting edges from the blade.

The only razor I have shimmed is an old open comb that has no blade gap. Its shave was too mild for me. Adding the shim took care of the problem.

I have one and shaved with it with no shim. Never even thought of it. It's not necessary. It delivered a nice close shave everywhere I could comfortably maneuver it. I had trouble on the neck where I hold it upside down. It's cruel hard to hold that thing upside down and maintain proper angle.
