Shifting my tea for winter . observations .

Stumpy in cold weather

I spent most of the spring/summer/fall drinking white, yellow and green tea ... and oolong from time to time. I bought a bunch of white/yellow/green online last spring (jas-E tea, yunnan sourcing) and that did me until about a month ago.

Now, I am switching back to pu-erh, lapsang souchong, and ... oolong.

I find that oolong keeps me happy all year long. Pu-erh strikes me as a 'cooler weather' tea, and white/green/yellow as more of a spring/summer thing.

I was glad to get back to my sheng ... but ... um ... my shu sure tastes like shoe (leather). :crying:

let your shou air out for a while. and brew it weaker than normal. or ad some sheng to it to balance out the "shoe"

This is what I do. In fact, I believe the perfect ratio for a blend is 100% sheng and 0% shou.

Winter time is usually Hong Cha for me, like Dian Hong or something. I also drink a bit of shu during Winter, but I'm actually short on drinkable shu. I now just realized that almost anything I could write about shu on here is open for countless jokes, hahaha. I have a couple of cakes that need another year or two to really lose that fermentation funk, so I'm probably going to order a Lao Cha Tou brick with a few years on it.

My all time favorite winter tea is the Xiaguan bao yan holy flame brick. Cheap, ugly, and soothing.

Note to self; Stop reading the tea threads, you have enough money going out the window because of this forum. Twinnings is good enough, for now.

You can always take part in the '13 sabbatical, then spend the money that you're saving from not buying shaving gear and buy other things.

This is what I'm going to do, or at least try.
