Shaving with acne

I've been wetshaving for around 3 months and since I've started I've noticed a significant decrease in acne. My acne was so bad before that I refused to shave and sported a beard. Since I began shaving with good technique and better principals my acne has almost disappeared.
I haven't changed anything in regards to my acne medication or face moisturizers, but since my plunging into shaving my acne has disappeared. Do you guys have any idea why that might have happened?

Do you by chance use witch hazel? I have noted (and was shocked to discover) that witch hazel works wonders to address pimples, etc. It works very quickly. :001_smile

Are you no longer using canned goo as well?

I noticed my skin really clearing up after starting to wet shave with a DE, I think it has a lot to do with A.) The chemicals in the canned goo. and B.) the fact that you aren't cutting the hairs below the line of the skin.

maybe shaving removes excess oil from your skin, excess oil causes acne. long live wet shaving!

This could very well be true. In addition to this is the fact that you know longer have hair on your face trapping dirt and sebum against the skin. I'm in the same boat as you we the wet shave. Best skin of my life and fewer and less painful pimples.

I don't have any witch hazel yet, but I look forward to picking some up soon. And I never used canned goo either. I kind of went from adolescence to having a beard. My first real experience with shaving has been with a DE. I probably shaved 6 or 7 times over 5 years with cheap 2 blade razors from CVS.
Needless to say, the switch has been really great.

Since your recent picking up DE shaving after only experiencing shaving a little more than once a year, the added attention to your face and neck with a decent cleanser and moisturizer (soap) brushed onto your face will work wonders on your acne.
