I'll also add that it is easier to shave body parts other than the face with long handled razors. I don't use razors marketed as "women's"; but my favourite razors are the Merkur 38c and the Merkur Progress model 510. Both are fairly heavy, but are over 4" long. The heavy weight makes shaving easier, since the razor does the work without needing any pressure.

Interesting point, I on the other hand really like my EJ DE89 for privates (guy here), exactly because it's short and more manouverable
