Shaving Sticks

As I go abroad quite bit I don't want to take a cake of shaving soap when I go so I am thinking of taking one of here shaving sticks with me but which one?? there is so many I know "D.H Harris" is a good name and so is the "TALAC" or so I have been told is there any others that I should look at it needs to have a good lather a nice smell ( I do like Sandlewood) and also it must fit in one of these stick containers if possible. Thanks for any advice Given

I can vouch for Euro Palmolive, Arko, and my favorite so far, Speick.

Face lathering with a stick is my preferred shaving method. Fairly easy to get a good lather and less hassle while traveling.

I gave up most of my sticks for pucks, but La Toja stick stays in regular use. Not heavily scented, it reminds me of being around the ocean because of the mineral salts in it. One of my best performers and it has its own container.

Depending on where you travel abroad ... I would scour the local drugstores and pick up whatever the natives are using.

Take along a stick of Arko just in case you can't find anything ... Arko is good anytime of year, anywhere you go. The others mentioned are ( IMHO ) seasonal soaps, and if you travel far enough, you'll find that the weather at your destination is vastly different from the weather you left back home.

I use a vintage Williams container when I travel, it looks just like your container. I bought a Speick stick which fits fine but an Arko stick I bought later was too large around to fit. The Speick scent is great but the soap's performance was lacking for me. It just lathered thin no matter how much product I used.

My favourite shaving sticks:

- Valobra (#1 for me!)
- La Toja
- Wilkinson
- Sir Irisch Moos
- New Lea (w/ tallow/lanolin)
- Palmolive

Another +1 for the Palmolive, Speick, and Arko. All 3 sit on my sink and sticks are what I use the most anymore.
