Shaving Soap vs Shaving Cream, THE SHOWDOWN!

PICK A SIDE: SHAVING SOAP OR CREAM.

  • SOAPS

  • CREAMS

Am i the only one who finds that shaving creams (at least my Trumper's Rose) produce too much oily residual scum and it's just too much trouble (i spent a good 10mins) cleaning it up even with the Magic Sponge. My MWF doesn't give me such collateral damage. A hot water rinse will clear up whatever it has created in the ceramic basin and it's done. Even my HD Rocket is scummy after the experience. Gonna boil it over the weekend.

The MWF produced a little more meringue with slightly less effort as well.

That said, it was my first dollop of Rose that i scooped before i relegated it to the cupboard after.

It's a little early for me to take sides now, but it's: SOAP 1 - 0 CREAM.

Let's go to the WEEKEND POLLS!
(If anyone really feels for Creams, I, for one, would love to hear it!)

Have a good weekend!

Don't boil your rocket. Just a quick scrub with the bubbles will do.

- Chris

The HD Rocket can't get into hot water??? I read that only aluminium and gold-plated razors shouldn't be boiled. Nickel?

Does non-abrasvive liquid dish washing detergent count as "scrubbing bubbles"? Or Johnson and Johnson's baby shampoo?

Thanks again.... ;)

Soaps for me. I will admit the only cream I like so far is penhaligon's BB the smell is phenominal.

For me..

Soaps 99% of the time.. Of that, tallow soaps comprise 99% of the soaps used for daily shaving..

I do still grab the creams on occasion though.

Wanna trade? A brand new puck of amazing L'Occitane soap (not the lousy cream) for your really crappy Trumpers Rose that's just sitting in your cupboard?

I like creams better. Wow, I didn't know soaps were preferred 2-1.

I use both, often together. The sample size is pretty small here so I do not know how accurate the survey really is.

I have never really had any residue problems. Pen's creams seem paricularly nice, but so are QED soaps. I guess creams seem more expensive, but I have never used up any soap or cream completely so they are all inexpensive in a way.

I wasn't expecting this either. I WAS expecting Creams OVER Soaps! Which makes me wonder if it ain't broke why fix it.... just add a couple of drops of glycerin. :)

Thanks for the offer but I need that Trumper's sitting in the drawer to remind me.

Soap for me more than 90% of the time. I travel a lot and it just makes things easier for me.

I will not give up my CF lime oil cream!

Forgot to add that if you did this same poll in the Shaving CREAM forum, you might get a different result. We over here in the SOAPS forum tend to be biased a bit toward soaps.

That's a good observation, the hardcore Creamers probably frequent the soap forum less frequently.

I chose soap
