Shaving Gear From Spain?

A co-worker of mine has to go to Madrid, Spain on Dec 1st. I was going to email one of our stores in Spain, and see if they could buy a few things for me, then have my coworker pick them up when he sees them on the 2nd.

What should I have the guys at the store buy? They are unfamiliar with wetshaving so they don't have any idea what I would want.

I do know I should have them get:

1. Floïd (not sure which one blue or regular)?
2. La Toja Shaving Cream / Sticks (any preference?)

Any other must haves or suggestions?

I don't know any but I would think they would have nice Aftershaves there...

Musgo?

They won't be able to find Floïd Blue here. That's the italian version, but you can choose between the spanish 'Suave' (mild) or Vigoroso (strong, more menthol). Both available in 120 ml bottles for less than 6€ in almost any supermarket. The LaToja and Lea sticks cost less than 2€ and the creams less than 5€. In some places you can also find Lea creams(Mentholated and standard) for the same price as LT.
In good cutleries they usually work with the Proraso line of products (cheaper than in the USA) and a local brush brand called Vie-Long with an interesting catalogue going from horse tail hair to silvertip and good prices too.

Drop me a PM if you need more info. :thumbup1:

Answered, mate. Although I don't live in Madrid, I can point your colleagues to some 'real' shaving stuff shops, specially the Santa Maria Novella store in Madrid.

i have a very good boar brush that i bought in Spain, for like 10 $, and it's great, i really like it... i can't remember in what store i bought it though, but i know that it's from some local manufacturer...

Well, the only local brands I know of are Vie-Long and 'Tres Claveles', does it have any name printed or etched?

Thanks, my contact in Spain is going out today and tomorrow in search of my requests. She said if they sell it in Mardid she will find it ;)

At first sorry if you see some spelling mistake but my english is not very good . Ok let's go to guide you in Madrid.

I can suggest you some more products:

- Pre-shave "Myrsol emulsion" (http://www.myrsol-cosmetica.com/ Here you can see all the product's range). It's a very beloved product for my collegues of a spanish shaving forum, like "bleach" is. It costs around 9-10 € and you can find it in Madrid in the shop called "Perfumería Montané". The postal adress is like follows:
Plaza de los Herradores, number 10, near to "La Puerta del Sol Square" (the center of Madrid and Spain too, very easy to find it). Local phone number: 91-559 99 28.
Google maps: you have to look for typing "Plaza de Herradores, 10, 28013 Madrid, Comunidad de Madrid".
In this place you can find the Vie-Long shaving brushes too (link of the complete range: http://www.vielong.com/Brochas1.html) and so many shaving products. Also you can find the brushes and other shaving products at "El Corte Inglés"-Preciados street number 1, very close with Perfumería Montané.
- Myrsol shaving cream: for professionals. Packaging: 1 Kilo.
- Brumel after shave splash if you like the vintage scents (70's). I've tasted and I like it a lot. It's very usual label.
- Floïd AS Balm for sensitive skins.
- All La Toja range: AS spalsh, As balm, soap stick, shaving cream. It's easy to find at the same shops.
- LEA & BEA shave sticks. The same manufacturer; I prefer LEA but they are very similars. Very populars and maybe cheaper than La Toja stick.
- LEA shaving cream (regular and mentholated). Very traditional spanish product and very good too; very comun in the olds barbershops. Very advisable, like la Toja but different. Cheap.

That's all I can tell you. Good luck in your hunt. :a21:

This is amazing advice! Thank you very much for this info. You just planned my shaving shopping for my first visit to Madrid.

Ssshhhh, Myrsol was one of our secrets!!!

Hi twice Bleach.

I've had thought the same about Myrsol before to reply to our american fella withouttink, but I've learned a lot in B&B and I feel that I should to return a little for this forum.

I'm very sorry for not to participate more, but I've to work a lot for writing english in a passable way. My method "English without paine" is like follows: Bable fish translator+Wordreference dictionary+comun sense+a lot of time (maybe 30 minutes for the post reply above). But everything is OK. I truly hope withouttink could find some spanish shaving jewel and enjoy it.

See you soon, tomorrow I'm sure, in afeitadoclasico.com and foroafeitado.com. Good nigth. :001_tt2:

I have tried Myrsol's aftershave and it's very good. Wouldn't know what to compare it to, though.

PD: Me voy a apuntar en los foros en castellano que mencionas. No los conocía. Los temas de afeitadoclasico parecen medio calcados de Badger & Blade, ¿no?
