Shaving Cream Gift Recommendations???

I am creating a small shaving kit for the groomsmen in my upcoming wedding and I have a couple of questions that I would appreciate members of B&B to answer:

1) What shave cream would you recommend that costs under $16?
2) What scent would you recommend for guys who are new to wetshaving?

Thank you in advance for any and all suggestions.

Regards,
Chase

Speick smells great and the SC is only about $7.

You can probably pick up a tube of Speick AND Proraso for close to $16 or a little more. If you don't want to do both, I think either of these would be a good place to start. I would stay away from florals if at all possible. I think you'd find more guys drawn to the masculine scents or possible a neutral or subtle scent that wouldn't interfer with whatever else they were wearing. These two products are both readily available, packaging is small, and both great performers. You can't beat the price either.

My first thought after seeing your price range and giving a shaving cream to someone would be if they are new and don't have a brush then how are they going to use it. They might not want to go out and buy a brush just to use the gift. So it could be a waste then...... I'm way to practical when it comes to giving gifts.

Do your groomsmen all have brushes to use with their shaving creams if you give them some as gifts? Or are you also planning on giving them a gift. There are some great lower cost shaving creams for less than $16.

I just got some Tabac (but the soap) from Phill over at bullgoose and that's awesome stuff. Plus it was under your $16 price range. He ships fast and has great shipping rates.

To address your concern, I have already purchased Kent BLK2's to include in their sets. I agree that it would definitely be odd to give the cream without the brush. Thank you for your suggestion (I do love Tabac!) and thank you to everyone else for their suggestions! I am enjoying all of the different perspectives. Keep it up!

The Vulfix creams from classicshaving.com are also in your price range. I've only tried the Persian Musk (very nice) and the bowls look kind of elegant. Good, fast service, too.

I know you specified creams, but I have to throw in Tabac soap in the bowl. $13 with the bowl, free shipping from FragranceX.com. The bowl would be really classy for a groomsmans gift. As for creams, Body Shop cream is great, although the Maca Root scent is hit and miss. Any TOBS cream would be good (I think Sandalwood would be an appropriate 'manly' scent for a groomsman).
Good luck with your search, and congrats on the wedding.

Speick! If I had to have just one cream, Speick would be it. It's easy to use, the scent is great, mild and inoffensive, and it works beautifully with or without a brush.

Speick is a great starter. The scent is heavanly. Its easy to lather and it provides a great shave. I highly recommend it as a starter cream.

i'd agree, something woody from the three ts. The quality is there, and the british creams are quite a luxury item.

Good choices so far. I'd also suggest Nancy Boy cream. I think it comes in at $16 if you go Club NB. Its marketed as brushless, too.

I have heard that Speik can be of a love it or hate it scent - I think that maybe something more middle of the road like Sandlewood maybe a better fragrance choice. Taylor's keeps you under the $16 mark.

You could also try the Gentleman's Quarter - their Highlander has an amazing fragrance and based on their other creams a pretty good lather.

I think I would buy any of the 3T's in a tube, in some kind of masculine scent.
T&H 1805 or Trafalgar, TOBS Sandalwood, Mr. Taylor, or Eton College, maybe GFT Coconut, or even DR Harris Arlington or Marlborough.

I would get the tube version because it is a easier (and neater) to dispense a consistent amount.

How about one of the 'hand made' creams such as Wesley & Scott (shavingessentials.net) or TGQ? They are more natural, little to no pesky chemicals, scent and shaving are at par or better when compared to the 3T's and it looks a bit classier to get the 'custom' cream for your best buds!
