Beet her to it!
Any makers that still use real badger? Or all gone?
Shavemac makes excellent handles. But if I had to chose something different, based on the two that I already have, OUMO would be on top of my list for handles now. Beautiful and well executed.
I do not know any other handle maker with the same extensive offering, in terms of materials, shapes, colors. Same for the knots. From the practical point of view it is practically like the now closed Savemac's configurator, but with a lot of more choices. The only difference is that if you want a specific loft height you need to email them. My experience so far has been great. Communication wise they have been prompt, precise and very nice. The quality of the three handles that I have purchased from them is super, both resin and wood. As far as support in case of problems, my only experience is that the second handle that I ordered had the central hole drilled slightly too shallow. They sent me a new handle right away. They did not want the handle back (I asked) so I ordered one of their horse knots and I am using it with it.Oumo’s are interesting, people seem to like.
I have no expirerence with Real Bager.

Coming back to this hobby I visited some of mt old favorite vendors. All I kept coming across was synthetic knots. I figured I had been gone so long maybe things changed. I did end up finding badgers, oddly enough, I kind of want a synthetic nowSeeing that you’re not a novice and have been a member since 2015:
If that should have been a real question, I have the real answer for you: go to the website of a reputable internet seller like Fendrihan, Gifts & Care, Vintage Scent, et al. and see for yourself.
I don’t think a daft question like that deserves more…

There is no such thing as a real badger. It is a made-up animal. I confirmed this with my wife and she knows things like this.
Rumor has it is that he IS a badger… he possibly uses his back hair for his knots.
And, I would be remiss if I did not suggest adding Rudy Vey to this distinguished list.
No, Thaeter is gone unfortunately, and I fear the same may happen to Shavemac - they have reduced their production and not longer offering brushes by themselves, only selected brushes via resellers. Their configurator was a very nice tool and no other company offered such a service. Times are changing guys, everyone goes the cheap Chinese route now.I found ordering a Shavemac confusing with too many options, so I had Rudy replace a 3-band Rooney knot with a 2-band (24mm) Shavemac in my favorite Rooney handle that I wasn't using much. In 2020, I just dropped off the handle and let Rudy decide the knot and loft. It's been a favorite brush since.
Hopefully Thater is still making badgers. They are (were?) excellent brushes. I have 3 of them (22/24/26mm) in 2 and 3-band.
