Shavemac or Thater to Bowl lather

Just like the title says. I would love to try one of these brushes. They both get such good reviews. Which on would handle a bowl or scuttle the best? Any advice would be great.

Either can do this. There may be differences, but it takes an exalted member of the Brushnoscenti to really tell the difference. I know I couldn't.

You may want to narrow your question down, however, by telling the folks which models and sizes you're looking at from each manufacturer.

Honestly, I wasn't sure which ones to look at. In the Shavemac, I saw the 280. But it looks like a monster, it might be overkill. In the Thater, I was looking at the 4292/5. But I'm not sure if that's big enough for a 1.5 DB scuttle. Yes I definitely need a Brushnoscenti to help out on this one. Hope this helps with the advice

I do not have a Shavemac yet.
My Thaters (3 and 2 band) are both wonderful brushes, very high quality do it all brushes.
I prefer the 2 band slightly for face lathering and the 3 band slightly for bowl lathering, but I could live with either as my only brush.

If you know what you like for specs, you should just build your own. Both are the same in build quality. Shavemac make the handles for Thater anyway. I sold my 2 band Thater and got a custom Shavemac, no regrets.

I noticed that on the Shavemac site. I really wanted to get a longer handle. The 280 seems like a little to long. When I go to customize it, I can't find a place to make a handle longer then the ones they have on the custom build side.

You could try contacting Bernd directly and telling him what you are looking for. I hear that he often takes a few days to respond but that his service is very good. The brushes are excellent for sure.
