Shave Your Head AND Face Every Morning? Read This!

This is going to seem pretty simple, but maybe theres a few guys out there who haven't thought of this yet! I shave my head AND face every single morning and heres my routine. I let my brush soak while I do a few splashes of warm water on my head and face. Then I make my lather, and lather up my head AND face at the same time. My head doesen't require much prep because the hair isn't nearly as thick and coarse as it is on my face. Needless to say while I'm shaving my head the lather on my face is just sitting there preparing my steel beard to be shaved! It takes a solid 5 minutes to shave my head, so thats plenty of beard softening...at least for me! Enjoy!

Same here, but I shave in the shower.

Full lather, headshave, usually with the Fusion, sometimes with one of my stainless straights.

If I use the Fusion, then when I get out of the shower I'll use a straight for my face, if I used a straight on my head, then I'll finish up my face...
But I prefer shaving my face in front of the sink. Saves water for one, but it gives me the option of bowl-lathering which allows me to use some of my tubed creams.

keeping the lather on for 2-3 minutes is definitely a good way to soften the whiskers and make them easier to slice off.

My friend shaves his whole head that way too. I don't- How do you avoid missing areas? By feel? I get great results with Lectric Shave, then an electric razor, then Clubman talc (head starts to weep oil by 10am after some AB/AS's and gets ridiculously shiny).

DE on the face, of course!

I've had decent results with the following. While in the shower, after face wash (also used on head), coat my beard area and head in conditioner and let that soak in for the rest of the shower. Then follow up with the head/face shave afterwards.

I started shaving my head on my third time using the DE. It really isn't as hard as you would think. I have a Fuzion I keep around to zip over the back to catch any stragglers. Using this method a cartridge would last months.

Very similar to my routine. I always shower first, and have started to use conditioner (at the Rec' of another B&B member) after I wash my face and let it sit while I finish with the body. Right before I get out, I rinse off and dry everything except my head and face. Apply AOS pre shave oil & let that sit as I dump the hot water from the soaking brush and bowl...lather up and go to town!

The two steps I've incorporated that I feel have really helped are 1) using the conditioner 2) letting the lather sit on my face for that brief 2 min it takes to make the first pass on my head.

After I've down that first pass, I tend to focus on the face or head while always keeping it "Wet"!

I do the same thing, let the lather sit on my face while I shave my head. I've been shaving my head for years, so when I switched to a DE I started straight in using it on my head too. I actually found it easier with the DE.

How do you avoid missing areas? By feel?
100%.

Not having eyes in the back of my head tends to make any other method difficult

Seriously... my non-used hand passes right behind the blade. Actually, more on top of the blade... one finger ahead of the blade to detect and move things like ears, and another finger behind the blade to feel for stubble.
Even on my face shaves, I don't rely only on appearance. I can go 24 hours and not have visible stubble (and I do shave before bed)... my hair is light and fine, so I have to go by feel to pick up areas that need buffing on both my face and head.

Prior to using DE and straights, I didn't even use a mirror shaving with the Fusion... and I was shaving around a Van Dyke.

I shave both every morning, but shave my head in the shower with a Fusion and Barbasol Yellow can. The face is shaved at the sink with a DE and one of many other quality soaps or creams. I'll shave my head once every other weekend at the sink with my DE just to keep my man card...

I've been head shaving for 8 months and--after wearing a beard for decades--face shaving for 7 months and DE shaving for 5 months. While showering I wash my head and face, apply conditioner to both, and rinse off the conditioner at the end of the shower. After drying everything except head and face, I apply a cheap shaving soap lather (such as Williams, or, incomparably better, Arko) to my head and something good (ranging from Arko to Tabac) to my face. I shave my head (just one pass + touch up) with a Headblade. (Maybe soon I'll venture to try using my EJ89L, but the Headblade, with a CVS two-blade cartridge purchased for 25 cents each on sale online--which lasts about 15 shaves, given that my one-pass head shaves are smooth and quick--has worked fine so far and allowed me to spend much more time on the greater challenge of learning to face shave.) I then rinse my face, do a proper face lathering, and shave my face (2 passes + touch-up for DFS). After warm and cold water rinses of head and face, I apply alum block to both, witch hazel to both, and my home mix of carrier and essential oils to both.

I have been shaving my dome for 5 years with either the Fusion, Magnum5, or Hydro5 and I got quick close shaves and I shave in shower. However... since April I have put my cartridges in retirement. Since April... I have been exclusively DE shaving both face & dome. It's been a challenge but I refuse 2 go back to those cartridges. The DE way is the better way. And one day...I'm gonna try the SE way but the cartridge way is history 4 me. I'm fully committed 2 the DE world of shaving.:thumbup1:

WARHAWK

Wow I didn't expect this many replies! Maybe some other B&B members will shave their heads now even if they don't need too! I'm in the receding hair club, so I like to have the clean shaven look versus the five head look!

I used OP's routine for a while. Lately, to save time, I've started shaving my head in the shower with some Zirh cream I still had and a Mach III. I then shave my face at the sink with the usual full wet shave products and a straight.

I always shave my head last, I will try the change in the morning and see if it makes that chain link fence on my neck more bearable.

I've been shaving my head for a couple of years now and sadly I just can't do it every day. Tried with a DE but it took too long for my liking, so it's an Extreme III in the shower for me!

For some reason, I don't like to use regular shaving soaps for my head. I find a good lathered-up soap vastly superior to anything else for my face, but for my head, I like a gel or the Headslick cream. I like King of Shaves, or even the slick gel from the Dollar Tree for my head. And I prefer a Headblade.

I also lather both at the same time but shave my face first then my head. But thanks for your post it made me think, another variation I can try, who knows it might work even better the other way around. btw I prefer to shave my head with a Feather RG (or sometimes a straight or a DE but not often).
