Shave talc for a mustache shadow?

I recently purchased some "clubman pinaud shave talc" to apply after shaving to my mustache area to help alleviate a perpetual shadow I get there even with BBS shaves.

My question l: is this the proper talc and what is the proper way to apply it?

Pinaud Clubman is the only talc that I'm aware of that's tinted to match skin tone. My barber always uses it on my neck after trimming me up with a straight. Talc covers nicks, takes shine off your beard area and helps relieve razor burn. I put the talc on a clean cloth and kind of 'powder' by beard area, then use a clean portion of the cloth to wipe the excess away. My barber uses a neck dusting brush to accomplish the same effect. Some guys use an old inexpensive boar or low grade badger shave brush to apply talc, others put talc in a wadded up sock or in a tied up handkerchief and make a duster (a powder puff for lack of a better term) to pat the talc on their face and then wipe the excess away. If you're using talc to cover a beard shadow take care not to use too much of it or it will look like pancake makeup, which is an effect that you do not want. Also make certain that your face is completely dry before applying talc or it gets sticky.
