Shave My Face

Love this forum, and plan on staying here, but looking to move some of my shave den, and can't do it on here yet. Trying to register to Shave My Face, and have some problems. Can't seem to get past the first page, the spam prevention mechanism says this : "Put a check mark next to all photographs of animals. (This is a spam prevention mechanism)" There's no pictures of animals, just random generated letters and numbers that are all the same except for fonts.

Driving me nuts! Anyone have any advice?

Dear BMW. I am having trouble with my Mercedes, it seems to be making a funny noise. Can you give me advice on how to fix it? :wink2:

I'm sure other members are on there as well, however I can't post on there! Funny you used that analogy, as I am a master mercedes technician, and often work on my friends bmw's :001_tongu.

In all seriousness, everyone i've met on here has been nothing but helpful, so why not give it a shot. Someone who is a member on there may see this and be able to post my situation.

If I could sell on here,or more importantly post a WTB, I'd have absolutely zero reason to seek other forums (for the time being).

I can do 25 posts in a night, and not have to wait 45 days. However, the main reason i'd like to join is to post a WTB. If I post anything eluding to the fact that I want to buy something on here, it gets deleted asap. It only happened once, but i'd like to be able to post what I'd like to buy! ;).

I'll check that sticky, pretty noob move of me not to look.

Among the goofier things that some amateur web designers do is choose colors and schemes that not all displays will render the same way. One of the reasons I gave up using my faithful 20" CRT display was that it rendered many things differently than LED (flat type) displays do, and once all the web designers all used LED displays, they stopped wondering what their pages rendered like on CRTs.

Most home pages should have a link near the bottom saying "Contact us" to send questions such as yours to the site's administrator.

I've only recently made the switch back again from mostly cartridge shaves, and occasional DE shaves, to the other way around (about six months now). Do I NEED membership at more than one shaving site already?

The 45 day wait is so we don't get 25+ stupid posts just to meet the quota.

And we've still had it from more than one newbie.
REALLY crazy stuff.... then they post the WTS and we never see them again.

Last December, I was getting ready for a short trip, and my travelling toilet kit had no razor in it. I didn't want to pack up the "regular" razor from the back bathroom, where I always shave at home, and be stuck with anything besides my then-usual razor. I knew I was already supposed to have a backup, but didn't find it. I tried several pharmacies and supermarkets within easy reach from home without luck, and started looking up things on the 'Net, and constantly ran into links leading here.

Not to any other shaving site, but to here, B&B.

I did eventually buy something contemporary, a Schick Hydro3, but I had in the meanwhile run across a lot of my "Classic / Traditional" shaving gear that had been put away. By the time I joined B&B, I had found about sixteen razors, all but two my own for their entire working careers. Two out of four "heirloom" razors had survived the long journey from age 14 to then-age 71. My razor of choice for 18 years had been the original two-blade Sensor from Gillette, although I kept my 1972 model "standard length" Super Adjustable for weekend shaves for special occasions, and for squaring off my sideburns, hanging above my wash basin.

As you can see, I joined the site's membership in February. I've not spent much time on any other shaving nut web site, and unless the action here fades out seriously during the summer (about which, I started a new post here in the Barber Shop), haven't seen a need to have two such places to hang out at. What's the situation on multiple forum visiting for some of you others at B&B?

Rich, as usual, hits the nail on the head. I would only add my personal observation, based on having moderated the b/s/t for over five years-

The more a newbie attempts to question policy, parse words, or generally complain about anything that prevents them from doing whatever they want whenever they want, the more likely they are to be a thorn in our side during their tenure, which usually tends to be short.

Our rules do not exist to impede any individual's enjoyment of the site. They are here to provide as safe a haven as possible for the long term members who have made this place what it is today.

+1 I've even seen people come in, hit the posts and time frame and our wonderful transparency naturally took note that posts were all in the sub forums with them just posting smiley faces, "+1" with no other feedback, etc.

I'd advise to kick back, enjoy the show, and help out our newbie forum. 45 days will come and go fast. You've already got a chunk of time down joining last month.

Did our friend Johansen ever post again after he posted his BST?
He had such wonderful ideas about sharpening the ends of his DE blades (make it a QE blade?) for mustache trimming and others... he had some really revolutionary ideas!

The B&B is the largest shaving site as far as membership goes, but it is not the oldest. Many members here are also members of other shaving sites.
