Whatever works is good. Some shave before the shower, some shave in the shower and some shave after the shower. I'm in the third group, but that's what works for me. The only way to know is to experiment.
Enjoy your shaves.

I’m jealous. You have hair to brush? I can run my palm over my hair to brush what little is left.Every morning I prep with hot water on my face, shave, shower, and then apply my aftershave which technically is a cologne like 4711 or St. John's Lime. Then I comb and brush my towel dried hair.

Same here.Ya same here , shave then shower. Just works for me
YMMV...If you shave before showering, doesn’t the shower wash off the aftershave?
I’m still in denial.Welcome to the Bald Eagle Club. When my hair looked like that I took my wife's advice and shaved it off.

Using an open blade in the shower would, IMO, earn a darwin-award nomination, the impact of dropping that razor on certain exposed areas would need more than witch hazel to close up. YMMVI think very few, if any, SR shavers would shave in the shower. They want to keep their scales reasonably dry.
I shave exactly as @njpaddy shaves. Shave, witch hazel, shower, witch hazel again, dry and then apply aftershave.
It does. I put on the Stirling SDM aftershave for the little bit of zing it gives, and because I'm trying to use it up. Once it's gone, I'll probably wait to apply my aftershave until I climb out of the shower. If you shave before showering, doesn’t the shower wash off the aftershave?
