Shark superchrome

Hi

I am just wondering how shark superchrome razors are considered. I heard every razor works different for each person, but I just wanted to know if they are known to be poor for example.

They seem ok to me, but I have trouble around the mouth and chin + throat. I think it's because I am not a good shaver yet, not the blades.

Thanks

I am fairly new to DE shaving but I really like the Shark Super Chromes. I find them to be very sharp and very smooth. They perform better for me in an aggressive razor, but are still not bad at all in one of my milder razors. I found them to be pretty comparable to the Bluebirds if that helps you at all.

Sharks are my favorite blades so far after trying 8 or so different brands. I have 11 or so to go from my 'everything' blade sampler pack. Sharks re on top as of now however!

A very good blade. Just under an Astra in my book. Sharp and smooth.

BTW Astra's are at the top of my book.

Sharks are pretty favorably reviewed, and one of the blades often raved about. See the reviews here:

Review of Shark Super Stainless

Note, that Sharks come in two varieties, Shark Super Chrome, and Shark Super Stainless. Only the Shark Super Stainless are shown on the Lord website, leading to the conclusion that the Shark Super Chromes are likely older stock:

Shark Blades @ Lord Razor

Really? For some reason I thought it was the other way around. Funny thing the Sharks I received from WCS always seemed to glide over my skin with an unmatched smoothness I've not encountered with another blade. I bought some SSC from howard1616 and while still great blades, seemed a bit off in the smoothness department. Not enough to affect the shave in a negative way but just enough that made me sit up and take note. I assumed it was because of the poor shaves I was having at the time of using Sharks from WCS. Curious enough, if that is the case, I wonder why howard1616 sells the SSC slightly higher than SSS if the SSS are current production?

Sorry for going off on a tangent but has anyone shaved with both and noticed any difference? Just curious.

For the original poster they are looked on favorably by some members and not so good by others. As with everything, YMMV. You can purchase 5 ct packs for cheap which I would advise you do in case you don't like them. And if you don't like them or anything else shave related don't throw it away; save for a PIF or for future use. You'd be surprised what might seem like junk today and seem good tomorrow. Good luck and let us know what you think if you try them!

My impression is that the SS last a tad longer than the SC, but the SC are smoother, especially for the first few shaves.

Please note that the above observation was a completely subjective and unscientific relation of anecdotal evidence by an individual not noted for stability or impartiality, and that in fact, your mileage may indeed vary.

I will assume that Lord is smart enough to keep the product content of their website updated. I have also read in other threads that the Shark Super Chromes were old stock/ not current production.

I have used both types of Sharks.

I found the Shark Super Chromes to be a bad blade for my face, marginally better than the Lord Super Stainless (which is one of the worst blades I have tried, generating weepers on every usage), but not a favorite blade whatsoever.

In comparison, the Shark Super Stainless are a lot more smooth, and fully usable. If I didn't already have some 400+ blades in stock, I probably would have bought a bulk order of them.

I find this comparison odd, as the blades are assumed to be the same, just slightly different packaging.

I have a moderate beard, and am a prep fanatic. I get about five to six shaves out of a SC.

You should change blades when you get tugging. Keep going with a blade long enough, and you'll know.

Are all de blades around this sharpness? I can run my thumb along it and it doesn't slice my thumb. I'm sure if I put pressure it would, but I was expecting it to be sharp even to that.

Blades can vary quite a bit in sharpness from brand to brand. As far as the thumb thing goes, try that with certain types of blades (i.e. Feathers) and you will surely get cut. I've no experience with the Sharks but if your hands are heavily callused that may be another reason why you didn't get cut.

You may want to check out this link, it talks about different types of blades and relative sharpness:

I've just found a pack of Shark Super Chromes in my blade stash.
I haven't tried one before, so tomorrow morning will be my first experience with them.
I hope they're good, I've just seen them on Amazon UK for £9.90p for 100 post free!
That's a very good price!!!!!!
