Setting the blade angle

Hi, I've returned to using a DE for about 4 months now(I used a DEs in the 60s).
My question- When setting the angle do most place the razor almost parallel to the floor then roll the handle down or do you set it on the safety bar then raise the handle. Sometimes when I go back over a spot the razor top drags if I try to start a stroke from too parallel. Help appreciated.

For me it's easier, and safer, to to start with the handle almost parallel and roll down. That way, I go from cutting no hair to the sweet spot, not digging into the skin then finding the angle. What ever works for you is best though.:001_smile

EDIT: Why can't I get John Sebastian's "Welcome Back Kotter" theme song out of my head all of a sudden?

+1 That's the best way to do it to start.

Just thought I'd add to the OP. A head that sticks is, for me at least, a sign that the lather is too dry. It might look nice and moist while piled up on the skin, but after the bulk of the protection is removed by the razor, it is quickly dried up and becomes sticky. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's what I noticed as I progressed forward in my shaving/lathering career.
