Palmolive day again. I got a super-slick lather out of it, but will need to make a new puck soon. A comfortable DFS.

Seems that summer here is finally over. Temperature dropped by 10 degrees Celsius and it rains now constantly for more than 6 hours. The rain will keep up for the next few days with another drop of 10 degrees alongside it. Time to pack away the menthol summer stuff.

Still in GRUYERE 🙏🏼

Since my craving for new razors, blades and soaps waned to a small flicker I have not visited often. That does not mean I am not enjoying our passion anymore. And while shaving, I think about B&B a lot. But every time I decide I should write something, another urgency gets in the way.

GRUYERE is effortless. The only time I search for razors is to see if I can spot a vintage that is offered for a few Euro, so I can sell it with a nice profit. Not had any success, but still, it is something I enjoy too.

Now, I know I should not be tempting you, most certainly not while most of you are struggling to stay in GRUME, but nothing lasts for ever, so I will give you something to look forward to.
In the picture you can see three dark horses that each exceed (almost) anything that is discussed here frequently.

Razor: The Phoenix Prismatic is a hommage to the Kirby razor, made by Leresche, post WW2. Not many seem to use it, but in my vast collection it is.... my best razor. I love crazy aggressive razors and the Prismatic is not too aggressive. But is is extremely efficient, almost at the level of my most horrible razors. And yet, it is fool proof. Any novice could use it. The combination of ease of use, top efficiency and overall joy its use brings make it my favorite razor. And it is dirt cheap.

Soap: this will come as a shock, but this Ukrainian artisan soap is better than my Martin de Candre.
Quite a claim, I know, but the glide, blooming, skin feel are all superior to the former best soap from France. Maybe it is the badger tallow, I don't know. But if you do not believe me: order a can. The cream is very cheap, but there are additional shipping and import tax costs.

Blade: another strange discovery. These blades are very cheap and look cheap too. When checking it out, I suspected this was a borderline fake product. But to my utter surprise, this Sharp Titanium is very sharp and quite durable, while delivering a comfortable shave. Goes to show how we seem to use the established brands, excluding products that might be better.

Well: that's it for now. I am planning a piece of writing for Badger and Blade: "in praise of aggressive razors", in which I argue why every DE shaver should master the use of these razors and I hope to encourage even novices to start using them right away.

Bon courage, brethren ✌🏼

Same over here on the other side of the Alps... but one more outing was in order 😜

Unspectacular, but solid DFS.
Cheers!
