September 2023 Gentlemanly Restraint Until Month End (GRUME)

You guys have a lot on on your plate and you have a lot in your hearts for each other! I hope your photos go well!
Those darn Minute Pirate bugs are in full force right now, love light colored clothing that of course we all wore, are immune to any repellant known to man, and love watery areas....check that box off as well; some of the pics were down by a local river here. Other than that, they went of without a hitch!:D

Still out of course…

How is the scent on that soap?
I'm fixing to get another B and M or two soon and being more of a gourmand guy, this one caught my eye last month.

Day 27, 90% complete

Preshave: Hot washcloth
Soap: Saponificio Varesino 70th Anniversary
Brush: Yaqi 24mm synthetic cashmere
Razor: GC.84 SB, Al Handle, Astra SP #2
Bowl: Turkish copper
Post-shave: Nivea Balm, Hyaluronic Acid

Forgot to look through the neglected items, otherwise it would probably have been the Wilkinson TTO (circa 2018). I used and liked that, but when I got here (B&B), it was soon eclipsed by better things.

Had a break from using up the MWF, and got an excellent near-BBS.

Afternoon shave today; family pictures here in a few hours

That must be hard. I hope that you do get a lot of time together.

Afternoon shave today; family pictures here in a few hours so didn't want to look like a well dressed hobo with a five o'clock shadow.

Dear Mike,

We are just a couple of years apart in terms of age so I expect your wonderful lady to be of similar age as well. And therefore far too young to have such a prospect. Immense respect for the energy and zest she is still displaying, because with that very energy and zest she is showing all of us to never give up and never let down. Your courage to share this is of similar nature by the way.

My heart goes out to you and I wish you as many positive events as possible to make as many positive memories as possible. And if you need a shoulder or an ear feel free to reach out. We are here in the threads or PMs.

Guido

Afternoon shave today; family pictures here in a few hours so didn't want to look like a well dressed hobo with a five o'clock shadow.

Shave Nation SN3D with a Dorco ST300 on#3(?)

Wow, lovely 2 pass shave today...first time I have EVER shaved after a shower, and let me tell you it made a noticeable difference.
I never expected the result I got with a Dorco blade and the razor I used.
This tells me I need to spend more time wetting the face, or try a hot towel, etc.

On a more personal note, these pictures are a milestone we never imagined possible last year at this time. My lovely bride of just over 20 years was Dx early July 2022 with an aggressive cancer of the brain lining and cerebrospinal fluid. This is her 2nd go round after going thru MBC exactly 10 years ago, so to say we were surprised is an understatement. It's been at times a very long and challenging road, but thanks to some new targeted therapy meds that were approved just within the last few years, she's been given some extra time with us thank God. LMD is a cancer that if not caught early usually takes a life within a few months, if Dx early used to add a few more months. Now it's very common to survive past a year or more with a pretty good quality of life, and with some really awesome events like our first grandson(child) this past May, it's given her some extra pep to keep on keeping on.
She's been able to work from home and loves her work, another plus.
At the end of the day. we know it's terminal, and after the most recent MRI a few weeks ago, starting to make it's appearance again, but not alarming yet...for that we are again very thankful

Good afternoon Gents!
Prayers for her and the family. It’s stories like this that keep me grounded in tough times. I’ve never experienced anything like this. Prayers to all.

Still in, I see the light at the end of the tunnel and it's not a train headed towards me.

Hey Guys
This is day 2 of 3 days re-visiting, using and appreciating neglected items from the past.
Starting from the top, I really enjoyed using the QSHAVE scuttle yesterday so I am re-appreciating it again today. I posted the Nivea cream(
*** see note below) over a year ago. I gave that bottle to my son or son-in-law. This was a new unopened bottle.

The smaller mug (with the Solar Flare brush on top) fits inside the larger mug - which is filled with hot water. The idea is that the mug will keep the brush warm between lather applications. The brush and warmer are from Phoenix.

The Viking "Emperor" adjustable TTO razor has settings from 1 - 9 and then MAX. I went for it and set it on MAX. The most outstanding thing about the razor is it is heavy. I mean REAL heavy. It is built like a tank. It had good reviews on Am*zon so I got it a couple years ago. I had to use extra light no pressure strokes with this thing

I think I used alum once or twice in the past because it was mentioned on B&B by lots of posters. I haven't used it in over two years. I quickly googled how to use it post-shave.

*** A side note- I added hot tap water to the scuttle and "brush warmer before I tried to open the Nivea pump dispenser. I am mentally challenged when it comes to opening cap dispensers. After 5 minutes, I was ready to ask Google how to open these **!#^ things. I was walking to the living room to see if Kathy could open the pump and I squirted it out on the floor. So, I had to clean the floor and returned to the bathroom. By this time, I decided to empty the water in the scuttle and brush warmer so I could get them warm again.

To continue, the shave was excellent! On the MAX setting my neck was BBSish. The alum was applied half heartedly without any burning sensation or irritation and I rinsed it off in less than a minute.

Summary - I am now mostly a face latherer but with creams that have to be squirted out of a container, I think I'll use the scuttle again. The Nivea cream (once I opened it) was excellent and slick. The "brush warmer" is over-kill if I am using a scuttle. The alum...is not for me personally. The Phoenix Solar Flare still disappoints.

Still in GRUME & GRUYERE. What will I use from the past to enjoy tomorrow???...stay tuned!
Please take care of yourself and each other.
