Notes to this shave:

Summary - Still in and we are in the home stretch of the final week. Hang in there everybody! We got this!!

An effective shave with one of my most effective razors. Excellent results.

Enjoy your shave!

I enjoyed your photo today. The Palmolive cream got my attention. I have a tube probably close to 2 years old and have only used it once or twice. In the GRUME theme of enjoying what we have, I have it out to use Wednesday. I have other neglected soaps to use Thursday and Friday.
Thanks for your post today!
John
I use Grume to slowly work through my stash of soaps that I acquired from 2020 onwards. The creams I usually use for my headshaves and there I already worked through most of them one tube at a time. For my face I like more variety and the overall consumption is much less. Nonetheless for my regular Palmolive Sunday I switched this time from the stick to the tube as it happens that I now run them in parallel.

After Tabactober my plan is to go through winter with only 3 hard soaps (SMdF, Wiener Seife Cedar, WS Vanilla) and one special cream Ralon (Pitralon) from Croatia.

So yes, enjoying what you have is the way to go :)

25Sep23 and still in!
P/S-Stirling Island Man oil
Wholly Kaw Vor V
1971 Gillette Super 109, R 3..year and quarter of my birthdate
Nacet on shave #2
Fine Accoutrements Stout brush
A/S-Stirling Almond Creme

The first time I opened this soap I thought "oh great, another fruity, almost powdery babershop scent", not that I dislike that type of scent.
After several uses the scent is really growing on me and it's more complex than initial first whiffs....that said the Siero base has to be one of the best there is, right up there with B and M.

Such a slick and thick cushion, and the residual is very much there even after rinsing a few times.
Looking forward to trying another WK and B/M soap at the end of the month, but I've come to appreciate this one enough to get the matching A/S at some point.
Another weeper free DFS+ shave!

Well said. I like the SOTM Club too. When I use the same soap for a month there is something satisfying about seeing the tub or puck get smaller. And that helps me appreciate having the soaps I have without having to use a different one every day or two or feel the need to try a new one every week or two.

Just a tad jealous here! I'm sure you see some interesting air traffic in the area there.
Mostly Marine Stallion helicopters out of Pendleton and F/A-18s from Miramar. Seeing the Blue Angels is a once a year treat that is always impressive. Every now and then a heavy lift transport jets over my neighborhood.
Beautiful. I bet they shake up the house flying that low.
When we hear and feel the sonic boom we know something is coming fast. I ran to the door with my phone and clicked away as they passed by in a split second. It is breathtaking. Sometimes they are so close you can see the pilot.

Gents, I just received word from Augustin from Atelier Durdan that my antique La Faulx is ready; the order was placed months ago. This is a custom finish, not one he normally offers. What do you think?

I think he has done a great job at the antique effect. Looks like iodised copper. Really nice effect.

Any idea on when it’s in your hands?

Enjoy!

Still in, dealing with temptations.

Shave Date 9/25/23
GRUME September: 25/30
Razor:
Rex Envoy
Blade: Astra SP(4)
Pre-Shave: Razor Emporium Pre-shave soap
Soap: Rex 1966
Brush: WCS Clear Smoke Burlwood Synthetic
Post-shave: Alum Block, Thayers, PAA Mysterium Serum, Rex 1966 Splash.
Bowl: Douglas Smith Pottery Suribachi Shaving Bowl
Rating: 9.0/10 BBS Cheeks and DFS on the neck. 0 weepers.

Notes: here.

An excellent shave today, rode the cap more for the ATG passes on the cheek. BBS with no irritation or nicks.

I had a long drive home yesterday after dropping my wife off at our daughter's house to spend some time with the grandchildren. I listen to some Fr Mike Schmidt and Bishop Robert Barren's podcasts. Some of the topics had me thinking of the GRUME, mainly being content with what we have in life. I oscillated between only buying one soap and razor to one of each brand to only to special releases. It must have been all the caffeine I was fueled up on. Haha. I'll certainly complete this GRUME, and go from there.

I wish everyone a blessed Monday, may all your shaves be BBS, nick, and weeper free.

SOTD SEPTEMBER 25th
SEPTEMBER 2023 GRUME

Hello friends

Even though I shaved yesterday, I decided to start the week off right and do it again today. As I'm not very good at everyday shaving, I made a simple and safe choice. Speick Cream and AS, Edwin Jagger DE89, Gillette Silver Blue (1) and my good old companion for 40 years: Yardley Original Pure Badger. To finish, Ach. Brito Lavanda. A splendid DFS!

With us the geniuses Sonny and Miles.

Rating: 9,5

Have a nice week and great shaves.
