Monday Shave

Don’t remember the name of this STAR razor but I always get a great shave with it. Seems to be a version of a 1912 head?

BBS to start my week!

Have some great shaves!

Sunday's Shave:

Razor: Schick Type-H
Blade: Schick Krona
Brush: Unbranded Butterscotch with Maggard Silvertip
Pre: GD Eucalyptis and Spearmint
Soap: Tabac
Post: Alum, Thayers, Stirling Hot Apple Cider, Stirling Glacial

Another good shave with the Type-H. The Krona is a great match-up for this razor.

Monday:

Razor: Gem MMOC
Blade: Gem Carbon Steel
Brush: Simpson 106 Pure Badger (one of my favorites)
Pre: GD Unscented+Cooling
Soap: GD Mallard Fougere
Post: Alum, Thayer's, Osage Rub, Stirling Glacial

Got a really good shave with this today. Realized the other day that I had been riding to high on the cap of my Gems. Lowered the handle a bit towards my neck, and not I'm getting nice irritation free shaves.

  • Gem Micromatic Clog-pruf
  • Gem SS (6)
  • Monsavon + Real Shaving Company cream
  • Casswell Massey Badger, bowl lathered
Second shave with the clog pruf and it went smoother than the first. Still feeling like I am walking the tightrope of "Will I cut myself?" Just took it slow and careful and I was fine.

Sunday Shave was my Schick Adjustable (M1) with the current Schick Twin Bonded Blade.

Today, reached for the OneBlade Hybrid, loaded with a Modified GEM (2nd)

SEptember Shave 20

Gem open comb MicroMatic razor
Carbon-steel SE blade (1)
Omega Bigger Bambino Boar Brush
Razorock P.160 Italian Soft Soap
Dickinson's witch hazel for AS

  • Valet
  • Feather (3)
  • Long Rifle Hawkeye + Derby Lavender cream superlather
  • Proraso boar, bowl lathered
  • Master Well Comb Blue after shave
I used to think the Valet was a novelty razor and would spend it's days as a bathroom decoration, but I'm wringing okay shaves out of it. Decent shave today. The Valet takes a little more concentration and effort for a good shave. Not as efficient as some of my other SE razors, but I think that's the blade. The only blade I've used with a shorter lifespan than these Feathers was a tuck of old Pal carbon SE blades.

SEptemper 24 and it will be a Schick injector adjustable, this razor is amazing with the adjustable gap. I turned this one down to 3.5 and it shaves like a 7-8 on my Gillette Fatboy but smoother IMO and I'm thinking the previous owner could of tinkered with the settings possibly?

Razor : Schick M3 adjustable injector MFG 1970-72
Blade : Personna injector SS PTFE (3)
Soap: Tabac
Brush: Yaki Tuxedo 24 mm
Pre shave: Wet the face + Aloe Vera gel
Post shave: Alum + cold water rinse
Post shave: Nivea refreshing AS + Nivea Balm
Results: CCS,DFS BBs + Alum indicated minor irritation = :001_rolle

An aluminum chill kinda day for me:

Razor: Schick Type-A
Blade: Schick Carbon War Package
Brush: Rubberset 400-3 with Omega Boar knot
Pre: GD Eucalyptus and Speermint
Soap: Fine SnakeBite
Post: Alum, Thayer's, Skin Bracer, Stirling Glacial

Another lovely SEptember shave. I'm really enjoying these carbon blades, not really sure why people don't like them.

  • Gem 1912, shimmed
  • Gem Super Stainless (7)
  • Vintage William + Pecksniff's shave cream superlather
  • Balea boar, face lathered
  • Benjamins Mentholated Bay Rum splash
Excellent shave. I've shimmed the 1912 before (last SEptember) and didn't really notice a difference in the shave. But this time...wow! Close, irritation and nick free. Shimming had to have made a difference. Instead of a half of a Gem blade spine, I use a blade blank from one of the injectors razors I have. Provided a more stable base than the blade spine.

SEptemper 25 - Took out my Everready 1914 razor that will give a person one of best shaves you can expect. The engineer who designed this razor did a great job for performance for the time. No computers when electricity was only had in the big city's- oh we take a lot of things for granted when design of products for that Circa period were done on paper only.

Razor: Everready 1914 MFG 1914-17 older model with 1st generation blade stops.
Blade: GEM Personna SS PTFE (6)
Soap: Tabac
Brush: Yaki tuxedo 24mm
Pre shave:Shave Brush face wash with glycerin soap+ wet warm face cloth for 40 seconds X 2 + Aloe Vera gel
Post shave: Alum + cold water wash
Post shave : Razorock Acqua AS + witch hazel + Nivea balm
Results: CCS,DFS,BBs + Alum Block indicated minor irritation =:001_rolle

Today's shave:

Razor: Kampfe 14A(?) LC
Blade: Gem PTFE
Brush: Simpson KH2 Pure
Pre: GD Unscented + Cooling
Soap: MdC Fougere
Post: Alum, Thayer's, Clubman SR, Stirling Glacial

Wasn't a very gentle shave today. I think the combination of a newer PTFE blade and the aggressive Kampfe caused some irritation. Guess I'll choose a less aggressive combination tomorrow.
