No occasion Gents just thought I'd give a friendly shout out to yall. My Grandfather is a marine and served form '55 to '95. He retired as a Master Guns. I know that He did 2.5 in Nam and went to Beiruit in the 80"s. He never talks bout it much, So IDK exactly what all he did. He was Infantry I know that much.

My Great Uncle (My Grandfathers brother) was a helicopter pilot but I dont think he stayed in as long.

I was supposed to go in but when I got to MEPS in Baltimore for my Physical they found out the recruiter had lied to them about me having shoulder and hand surgery and wouldnt let me in. Even though I told the recruiter. Me and the Liason had a nice little discussion and then I got escorted off the property.

In my family It's Marine Corps or Bust so there is no other option. Now Im a Deputy Sheriff.

So again to all Marines here on the forum a big Semper Fi from me. Yall have a good one.

I am alarmed and amused that anybody's Grandpap could have been in Beirut in the 80's. The Marines I knew at that time were all strapping young men who in no way, shape or form resembled grandfathers.

Time is a thief.

Of course you're right. Surely Marines who served in the eighties remain roguish and bold young warriors, full of wit and vitality.

Not to cause any hard feelings my friend but I think that during the War Between the States is the only time in history I was not a fan of the U.S. Military. Just my opinion though. Could be cause I was born & raised & still living in the south and the Fact that 2 of my great uncles rode w/ Colonel Mosby.

I'm starting to understand how these guys must have felt.

My friend, I think that this is a topic best unsaid. It's been a long time since I've seen a nasty political dispute here. Bringing the pros and cons of the Civil War up for debate isn't going to go anywhere good.

Hats off to the USMC, but I must say that I was bitterly disappointed to find out that the Quantico PX only stocks cartridges....:thumbdown
While the Army over at Fort Belvoir even had Injector blades!:thumbup1:

Big :wink2:
