Semogue Owners Club Cherry

Just received this brush a few days ago. I like it nice size, nice density builds good lather but not enough lather. I know load longer, use more product. I do load it for a while but still only get enough for about 2 passes. Is it because its not broken in yet?

Badger or boar?
If boar, yes, it needs quite a bit of break in before it really starts giving up the goods.

I follow Marco's brush loading technique to the letter. I get plenty of lather. That said, it will get much better with use.

The lather capacity improves with being broken in.

Thats what I was thinking.

Boar. Yeah I was just curious because my old boar lathered pretty good from the start.

It needs a lot of water. I start with a pretty wet brush and then usually add some more as I lather.

I used Marcos method as well. But I'm happy to hear that it gets better with use. Thank you all!

i have found that the semogue's need a longer break in time than other boars...but the work and wait is worth it...

I have 5 semogues-and I found on avg they take about 15 lathers/full dries before they start getting good. My 1305 was terrible!-I didn't see what all the fuss was about-when I first got it but now I love it. I give a new boar brush about a dozen hand lathers before I even use it on my face. Good way to test out a new product, or get rid of soaps you never use. You can just use shower soap too, though. Also Omega's lather better out of the gate-but need to be de-funked!

It's a fantastic brush. Give it some time. It will not disapoint you, you could not have made a better choice as far as boar goes!

Joe, you can also make some "test lathers" without shaving to improve quickly the performance of your new brush. :wink2:

I have the same brush and use it every other day. I have had it for a couple months now and it is just now starting to show its potential. I also had much better luck bowl lathering with it early on than I did face lathering.

I am waiting on mine from Portugal. I like my 620 and 830 so much I had to get a SOC. I didn't think they made much lather at first also, but once broken in they are fantastic. Just be patient.

Marco, I've looked for info on this would you please provide a link if possible? - Never mind! I found it through a google search instead of using B&B engine. Good stuff!

I've only had mine for less than a week and it's already my favorite. I am having the same type results though, as I couldn't make it through my 2 pass head/face shave without making more lather this morning.

Keep digging into this. MIne should be arriving in a couple of weeks and I'll happily follow this thread for tips.

Good choice! You'll enjoy it.

I've been doing this after chatting with Brent - and placing it by my oscillating fan afterwards at night...it's worked out nicely but I can see it still has a ways to go.

Thanks for starting this thread! I'm glad to know I wasn't "crazy" with my decreased lather...
