Semogue 730

Have many of you used this brush? Its soft at the tips but seems quite dense. I am not used to this dense of a brush and its taking some getting used to when I lather my face, is this normal? It seems quite firm too I guess this is the way it should be. Any thoughts or experience?

Well everyone is different. For me I specifically went with a Semogue 2015HD (HD for high density knot, 30% more hair) because I was afraid it might be a bit floppy. Luckily for me it has a pretty good balance for me. Might not be the same brush, but I'm happy with the balance on my Semogue!

I've got one from shavingessentials.net.

I am a boar guy and this is the only badger i have - its super soft compared to a boar and an excellent latherer too...

edit : I changed to read 7O'Clock Super platinum as ur blade in the signature. I suppose thats the Indian black. Care to share your experience with it...

I bought a 730 from shavingessentials.net too. It's my first brush so I don't have much to compare it to and it was my first time making a lather (following tutorials here & @ SRP). The first time I tried making lather on my face using Proraso becuase I didn't have a shave mug. It did a nice job, but I had to work it for a while - I didn't mind too much though since it felt nice. The second time I used it I grabbed a ceramic tea cup from the cupboard and tried that. In my estimatation it took around 5 minutes to get what looked like a good lather.

Any tips on what makes a good shave mug?

I use a ceramic bowl that is completely round, does a great job.
