Semogue 620 vs 1520?

Is there any difference besides the handle? I understand that the 620 gets a lot of love here but I prefer the look of the 1520. The hair used, the loft, and knot size appear to be the same. Any differences? Anyone have both, or have a 1520 and an opinion on it?

As far as I am aware, both knots are the same and it is just the difference in acrylic handle with the 620. Both brushes should serve you well as they are fine ones, indeed.
Personally, I have always loved the look of the 1470 the best and the 90% tops seem to be softer than the 75% ones. Good luck.

The 1520 was the first boar brush I owned (2nd overall, following a Tweezerman purchase). I have since PIF'd it to a friend, but he is using it consistently and really loving it from what he's told me. I do miss that backbone...

The drawback is the handle. It was not as ergonomic for me as other handles and while I like the "look" of the paint job, I did have some problems with paint chipping after a few months usage (see below). If you're careful - I am notoriously klutzy - it shouldn't really be a problem and plenty of folks own pristine Semogue brushes. But I doubt I will own another Semogue with a painted handle (though the 1438 tempts me constantly...) and would probably go with the acrylic 620, personally, even though I have not actually owned one before.
