Semi-Precious 'gemstone' wedges.

Has anyone ever thought of picking up some of these cheap polished stones and shaping them into wedges or whatever? Just curious as I thought they might look pretty awesome.

I'm thinking amethyst and rose quartz etc.

I've thought about it, never done it. I saw a razor on one of these forums use lapis lazuli (not sure if that's spelled right) and it looked pretty cool. I think it might be a PITA to work with, though. I bought some thick mother of pearl pieces to give a go with wedges, haven't gotten around to it yet, though.
