Selecting my (second) Badger Brush

Gents,

I've decided a switch up in the shaving gear is in order. I've been shaving with an Omega Boar 10066 and soaps for a couple years and I think it's time to go back to a badger and cream.

I had an EJ 89P16 and it served me well to learn with. When I moved over to the Omega I passed along the EJ to a friend who was learning how to wet shave. However, looking back, the 17mm knot was too small for me. While it was a good brush, I remember day-dreaming about a larger knot.

Since I'm shaving my gams, I figure a brush with good loft and a large knot would be key. I liked the size of the EJ handle, WCS is saying it's 54mm- something around that size, maybe a little bigger?

In terms of badger quality, I figured I'd stick with Pure. Do the SWMBOs use anything higher? Is the splurge for for say silvertip worth it on the legs?

So a brush with these qualities, at or under $100. Is it doable?

I think what you're looking for is very doable. I would recommend contacting Rudy Vey or one of the other custom makers that advertise in the Vendor and Hobbyest sections of the Marketplace here and have one made exactly how you want it and you should still be able to stay below that $100 mark. Or else there are several Chinese sellers on Ebay that have fairly good reviews that should be able to help you out for about half that if you don't mind waiting a few weeks for shipping.
