What's new

Seiko Automatic Ques.

I have an old Seiko automatic wrist watch I purchased in 1971 or '72. It's still in running order but is in need of some minor repairs (crystal and cleaning and it needs to be water resistant which it no longer is). Because of the age of the watch would it be best to go to Seiko or look for alternatives?

I always send my Seiko divers back to Seiko for service so long as I'm not working with any aftermarket parts. It's a little pricey, but the watches come back fully serviced and regulated and the entire watch is warrantied for one year from the date of service. It seems worth the extra cash.

I know of a very reputable private repair/restoration person if you're interested. I've had three older Seikos serviced by him and they all turned out fantastic and continue to run great. This guy is passionate about the Seiko brand and knows his stuff. PM me if interested.

Does your guy have access to a parts supply that includes non-Seiko upgrades (aftermarket dials, hands, crystals, bezels, and the like)? If so, I'd be very interested in speaking with him about a project diver I'd like to get underway.

I'm not sure if he has access to non-Seiko upgrades, but I'll PM you with his contact details and you can ask him about it.
