Seeding the wetshaving field

I've been out of touch for a while, just completed a grueling week of training Seminars at work, culminating in a great all nighter on 5 Sept. with guys who don't get a chance to see each other for years.

The final night, I managed to pull off a PIF of 16 Razors / starter kits to my workmates, ages ranging from 30 to 62.

5 40's style Superspeeds, 3 Red Tips, 7 regular 50's style Superspeeds and 1 nice Tech. They got Godrej Shaving Cream and a mix of VDH and Tweezerman Brushes.

I've gotten word back from 3 guys that they are sold on wetshaving with the DE and hope to hear from more of them.

How many more do you think I'll hear from?
Has anybody else tried a massive conversion at once?

In my opinion, this is the only way to win converts, talking about it just gets you the glassy eyed stare and the uncomfortanble feeling that they would rather be having their fingernails pulled with pliers.

That's awesome. I agree that to win converts, we have to give people an incentive to start. I hope you hear from more of them- a few will undoubtedly think of the stuff as old fashioned. "Only one blade? Shaving cream not pre-lathered in a can? Nuts to that!!" I gave a work colleague some Taylor's samples to try, and he seemed interested. I might be on the verge of getting him into a badger hair brush... now I gotta get him a DE!

Telemarketers and mass-mailers think they're doing a great job if they get one new customer for every 10-20 calls or mailings. You've converted 3 of 16 (so far) which is fantastic by comparison. Seeding the field is a far more effective technique which is why so many of us got free fusion razors in the mail. Admittedly, I got a pack of cartriges (not cheap) to try it out. I don't mean to compare the OP to a telemarketer or mass-mailer, but if one can afford good spare shaving equipment to loan out or give away, that would probably be the best conversion method. Of course, we've got to use judgement as to which of our aquaintances will be receptive or just give us that glassy-eyed look.
