seanusa's Journey of The Pipe

I have seen shave journals done before but none here in the brown leaf and after consulting my wife and a bit of thought I have decided to start this thread to chronicle my Journey of The Pipe. I have recently started this thread http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php/354614-Noob-Where-to-Start to help me figure out where to begin with this hobby and I now have a starter kit and some samples from a very generous member here on the way. I will continue to post and update this as I have questions or epiphanies and make acquisitions to see what you Gents think and to further my enjoyment of the brown leaf.
Thanks in advance for any help and thank you B&B for giving us all such a great place to congregate.:thumbup1:

So first up is the list of goodies I chose as my starter kit from http://smokingpipes.com/

"Can't Raise an Eyebrow"
I look forward to following your progress in your journal. Once you get the hang of it with the cob, I hope you venture into cleaning up and/or restoring your dad's pipes, they look like some nice ones. I went that route myself, resurrecting a rack full of my father's long unused pipes and I cherish them all now.

Thanks guys for the encouragement, I've already been daydreaming about my next pipe and that Peterson Churchwarden of brother cavefish's is a looker, I have wanted a pipe of that style for some time. My dad had a similar style pipe that was clay and not quite as long but I broke it when I was younger and he never replaced it.

I think my order will be her on Monday, and my member gifted samples, I'm not sure. I haven even gotten started and already I traded for this pipe. This is not the exact one but the same finish and style and was said to be lightly used by the seller. I still want a churchwarden one of these days but this looked like a nice comfortable pipe to hold, I believe its an author style.

Just went down to a local tobacco/barber shop called Handsome Devil and picked up some no brand blends from the glass jars behind the counter. I got 1/2oz of Cherry, 1/2oz Sweet Burley and 1/2oz of Black Vanilla so we will see, nice to fine a place like this locally, however this was their only pipe tobacco, no brand name stuff.

a tobacco/barber shop? does that mean you can puff on a cigar or pipe while your getting your hair cut or waiting?

In Oregon we have a smoke free work place law so you can't even smoke in a bar here. They do offer free beer while you get your hair cut though. Neat place, it was my first time in.
