SE blades for a GEM 1912

Hello everyone. Where can I locate blades for a GEM 1912 SE razor for my wife? I was PIF'd a razor and two blades, so where can I find replacements for it?

Your local drugstore, particularly CVS and Walgreens carry acceptable (but not fantastic) blades. The Walgreens ones being better than the CVS ones. The guys here think (and I agree) that the Ted Pella PTFE coated ones are the best, but you'll need to order them in lots of 200 blades. EMS (eastern microscopy supply) also has the same blades, but in lots of 100.

The PTFE blades are smoother and also will not rust as compared to the CVS & Walgreen's ones.

Have you tried those, Chris? I saw them a while ago and didn't order them thinking they were for box cutters only. (don't get me wrong, Pella's are SE nirana for me, but it's nice to have options).

Thanks, I am interested also, Amazon seems to have them in the Tool category .. but I need to get some someplace. Guess I should try 'em all before buying a bunch.

Treet blades available from Bull Goose (and others, faik) were also decent to good for me.

fwiw... GEM (except Pellas?), Treet, Persona, & CVS brands are all made by American Safety Razor Co. However, the grinds and/or coatings (or lack of) all seem to be different.

Actually, it's listed in the "industrial and scientific' category, and these are PTFE coated blades, based upon the description, I am pretty sure these would be the same thing as Ted Pellas:

Product Description
Often used in pathology labs, medical device manufacturing, and in film and food industries, these Stainless Steel blades cut cleanly, are highly corrosion resistant, and are coated with Dupont Dryfilm (R), the active ingredient of which is PTFE. This coating adds high lubricity and non-stick qualities and enhances the metals natural resistance to chemicals and other sources of corrosion.

I purchased a pack of TREET blades,
Does anyone like these for shaving??
I wanted to ask before I box blade my ugly face........lol

I haven't tried those. I believe they're a step above box cutter. I also believe that they may be carbon steel (rustable steel) so you'll want to be sure to dry the blade after using it.

I found them to be no worse/no better than any of the store bought SE blades. They do, however, rust easily. 2-3 shaves and off to the blade bank.

Pella's are the best, imho.

The Pella blades are GEM blades. The GEM by Personna blades at Walgreen's are stainless steel and are good blades.

No. These are not the same blades altho they are marked the same. Somewhere around here someone did a microscopic comparison which shows the blade edges to be different.

I also think the walgreen's ones are not ptfe/teflon coated as they rust fairly easily.

I don't know if they are the same or not, but the GEM by Personna blades at Walgreen's are stainless steel and work fine. You might be thinking about the GEM Blue Star blades which are not stainless steel and would rust.
