Is it possible to buy the Pella PTFE blades, or their equivalent, in smaller amounts? I still want to try out the Gems, but have not had great luck buying blades and am not sure if it's meant to be.

The GEM's that you can buy at Walgreens or the online store at www.personna.com feel and shave the same to me as the Ted Pellas. Some guys prefer the Pella, some the Walgreens version, and some think they are the exact same blade.
Post a request to purchase a few Ted Pellas in the WTB thread and hopefully somebody with a surplus can hook you up with a few to try.

I also find the Ted Pella blades very similar (if not identical) to the GEM blades available at CVS/Walgreens. The blades from TP are GEM blades from ASR, so they are functionally the same, in my opinion.
