Well, this is bound to be an interesting can of worms.
But glad you raised the question.
Most will probably disagree...see the last line for critical information.
Least to most "aggressive" for me:
Gem 1912 (incl. "Jr" or Star or Treet equivalents, and those with "Parade" handle).
All Micromatics - open comb, Clog-Pruf, flying wing (pretty much the same).
Ever-Ready 1950s era British 1912 pattern.
Ever-Ready 1914 "Little Lather Catcher".
Gem "Damaskeene" 1912 patent, version made 1912-1919.
The latter is easily the most unforgiving safety razor of any sort I've encountered.
Now the critical caveat:
I shave with a low angle, typically head flat against the face and raised the minimum amount to enable cutting *with* moderate pressure (not zero pressure!) but freely experiment with steeper angles as well. And my stubble is coarse and fast-growing.
Good post. I would agree that angle has a lot to do with it. I shave with the dreaded SE's using a low angle and have had excellent results. I find the OCMM to be more aggressive them the Clog-Pruf but will agree that basically they very close.
My bloodiest shaves ever with Clog-Pruf. Bloodier even than with the straight I'm currently learning on. Hats off to you SE guys. I could never figure it out.
The question is impossible to answer for everyone, because everyone's face and technique are different. But generally I would say the most agressive SE razors in descending order of aggressiveness would be something like this:
Early Schick Injectors, especially the Type E
Early Micromatics
Pal Injectomatic
Pal Adjustable, the 5 settings giving 5 razors in one!
Schick Injector Adjustable, the 8 settings giving 8 razors in one!
Later Schick Injectors
Ever-Ready 1914 and 1924
Later Micromatics, especially the Flying Wing
The various 1912's, the 1914, and the 1924
For me,I will list the CLOSEST shave the razors give---Not necessarily the most aggressive----but I equate closness with aggresive----anyhow from least to most
1-bullet tip
2-1924
3-lather-catcher
4-1912
5-OC damaskeene
6-OCMM
7-streamline
Ok, as noted YMMV, but in my experience, this is the order from most aggressive to least .. these are ones I have tried, haven't had the elusive GEM adjustable yet ..
First three are a tie ..
EverReady Streamline
Henkels Rapide
Schick Adjustable Wide Open
Micromatic OC
Schick Type E
Valet AutoStrop w/modern blades
PAL Adjustable
PAL Injectomatic
Schick Type G
1902 Lather Catcher
GEM 1912 (Including Damaskeene versions)
1907 Lather Catcher
MicroMatic Bullet Tip & Others than the MMOC - Magic Eyes, Clog-Pruf etc
GEM 1914/1924 (I can't tell a difference here, as I go down the list they are all getting closer)
Schick "Repeaters" Types A, B &C (the C might be a tad more aggressive, but these all shave pretty much the same on me)
Schick types D & F seem similar to me, getting to the end of the scale where they aren't quite aggressive at all)
Schicks from the H Type on down (haven't tried a Type O) all shave the same,, which for me is too mild (save the Type M, see above)
