Scuttle Question

Has anyone tried the Straight Razor Designs scuttle yet? I just noticed it for the first time today on the Straight Razor Designs website (www.straightrazordesigns.com).

Here's a link to one of the scuttles:

It looks nice and at $44.95 it's comparable, if not cheaper, with well known scuttles. I searched and couldn't find any reviews or threads on this one. Anyone have any experience with this scuttle, they'd like to share?

The lather bowl is only 3 inches wide and it is a little over 3 inches deep. The Dirtybird 1.5 has a lather bowl that is 4.5 inches wide and 3.5 inches deep.

The Dirtybird original has a 3.5 inch wide lather bowl that is 2 inches deep.

The reason I bring up the width of the bowl is that some people, myself included, like wider bowls so that the brushes don't clang on the sides as you furiously whip up the lather.

The one you linked is probably pretty good, but you have to decide for youself how wide you want the lather bowl.

If you face lather and use the scuttle to keep your loaded brush warm between passes it should be fine. If you bowel lather than I dont think it would be very good.

I'd agree with the above comments.

While I like the DB combo overall, the lathering bowl required me to get used to working on the small side. I eventually did, and have been quite pleased with it, but that is hardly the point of spending lots of money on a rig.

Find the one that works for you, and let us know about it!

Best,

Boomer

If you face lather, then Dirtybird has a brush scuttle for less money than the Straight Razor Designs scuttle.

Julie would gladly add a handle to her brush scuttle, I'm quite sure. I love my Dirty Bird 1.5, but I'm also seriously considering a brush scuttle for face lathering soaps.

Thanks for the input, everyone. It was instrumental in quelling the rising tide of scuttle AD that I was starting to feel. I'll stick with my original dirty bird scuttle that is still serving me very well.
