Schulze Seven Day Set

I recently scored this off the bay. Each blade is etched and painted with a different city in Germany. Example: "Souvenir Of Berlin"
I'm curious as to the age of these razor?

hmmm...they look like 1920's or 1930's..made in "Solingen" Germany..from the mark on the scale..beautiful set!

Now half as wise
Don't know the age, but they are great shavers. I have 4/7 of a set, and they have become my top choices.

I think very highly of Schulze razors and have several. I have 2 from a similar 7 day set as yours. They're very easy to hone and take and hold a great edge.
I think the set is from the late 1950s to the late 1960s. The scales are acrylic, the Solingen overlay on the scales is the newer style and the etching on the spine is shallower than the older sets.
Be careful if you want to preserve the gold wash and paint. It's very fragile (I speak from experience).
I like them.

thanks Peter, I look fwd to using them, once I get them fixed up.
in the mean time, anyone know what the numbers on the inside of the scales represent? It appears each razor has the number 1002 on the inside.

No idea what the number 1002 means, but that's a beautiful set. Let us know how they shave for you once they're fixed up!

Congratulations on the score! I saw that listing too and thought it was really nice (I didn't bid on it, though). I would imagine that the 1002 identifies that particular size or model since they all have that written on them.

If all the cities are part of the former West Germany I'd bet they were made after WWII and before reunification. The days are in English so I guess that means they were made for foreign visitors in mind.

I have a Schultze 7-day set I purchased from a member here and they are indeed fine shavers.

I have a 6 of 7 day cased set of Schulzes with the day of the week on each spine. Missing Sunday. They are wonderful razors. Mine are from World War II Germany.

I wish I had that beautiful set of yours. They are in great shape.

thanks Lindy, actually they are not as good on close inspection, Tuesday has some serious pitting, and most all have some rust on the edge. But! I think given some time, I can fix them up quite nice. I am polishing them up, then I need to learn how to hone (not on them, though), and I hope to shave with them in the not too distant future.

Bil

The scales look brand new, at least. At little rust can be dealt with. Get them honed and shave with them soon. I know you'll like them.

My Schulzes were honed by the owner on JNAT and haven't needed a touchup yet. No rust, just faded gold wash and one cracked scales set. I would like the 7th razor though. The seller said he sent it out for restore and the "restorer" didn't return it.
