Schulze razors?

During my infrequent Ebay searches I have noticed several Schulze razors pop up. They are invariably described as "unused" and have what looks like ornate scales. An example here. I found a thread here at BB where someone was trying to sell one in the BST sub-forum but from what I could tell it was a Heibert Wacker razor from a Schulze blank. Has anyone got any more information on these? Are they a good razor?

I've never heard of them. Something looks fishy there. I've never seen a strainght with all those pins in the scales and brass linings? I've never seen that either in a vintage straight. I wonder if its a far east knockoff. Its says Solingen Germany but doesn't say made in Germany. Also if its genuine Tortise that's been illegal for many years yet the razor looks to be in too good condition.

I don't buy that being genuine tortoise. The only genuine tortoise razor I have looks quite a bit different.

The supposed tortoise shell razor went for over US$200. Here's another with the seller claiming it is over 60 years old. It's up to US$76. I'm intrigued that I can't find a thing on the internet about them, including searching SRP posts. The name pops up here and there but is invariably met with people saying they know little about them.

The vendor of the item Citizen D gives a link to is mr barence. He is a respected vendor of quality razors on ebay. I presume he wouldn't sell the Schulze if they were crap.

I have restored and shaved with many Schulze razors. They were all tack sharp and excellent shavers. The Schulze brand is genuine. The scales do look genuine tortoise as I've worked on many and they look identical. Also most real tortoise scales I've seen are very thin to start with.
From what I have gathered it's Paul Schulze (Paul Schulze GmbH & Co KG) who registered and changed the company name to Schulze-Weyer in 1912. The blanks were worked on by Mr Heribert Wacker.

I've been looking at these razors from this seller as well, there is also an ESPE which I've heard of and seen mentioned a few times on here.

They look the real deal to me.
A reference I use mentions........
"Paul Schulze, Solingen-Weyer in 1922, 1925 and 1928, Brüderstrasse 24 in 1939 and 1983. Brand names: 'Original Schulze', 'Selbstfahrer'. Open-blade razor maker."
The seller sells them to Germans and I guess they know their own brands best.

There are many many German brands....... look at this site.......

Press the arrow to the right on the screen and see how many makers you recognise. They are all good quality Solingen razors.

Hope that helps.

I grabbed one 7/8 "Original Schulze" about a month ago on 'Bay. It cost about 20-25 USD and appart from some faint pitting, it is in great condition.
It honed up pretty nicely and it's right now on my current rotation.
