Schick Type L injectors for dummies

I am going to add this to the thread for future reference. I found this green handled L1 at a good price, so I have added it to my pile. It still has the blade blank and no sign of usage. I am pretty sure this was made in Canada for that market. I am just calling it an L1 with green handle in my inventory. I think it is of the early Warner Lambert era. There is a seller on the auction site who has these for sale on the card and they confirm this.

Freshly purchased!
Is it an L1 Style 2 ?
Where can i buy blades for him in the EU? What blades are there for this device and which offers a better quality price?

Connaught Shaving has the Personna blades, but they are UK based so not in the EU.

Some posts having only recently been edited, it would be interesting to know how I might tell an L type, 2nd variant, style 7 from a J type 5th variant. Both black handle. Handle lengths might help? :001_smile

I can't see an edit button but I think I've got it - different font and SCHICK is underlined on the L type .. ?

The plastic L handles are more rectangular in shape.

Those are scarce in the US, but if you look closely still more squarish than the J type. This Lady Eversharp is similar.

I have Schick E, G, J and L models. I love the first 3 but the L doesn’t work for me. Unlike the brass of the others, the L has a chrome-plated head that doesn’t slide as well. It was a struggle to shave with and, ultimately, I retired it.

Picked up this Schick set but can’t find anything about it ?

Now for variants that aren't based on the L1 handle or logos but were produced in the same time frame. I haven't used them before so they may or may not shave like the first 2 variants.

4th variant

Style 1- This one was sold as the Easy Rider and is also referred to as an L6. The Easy Rider has nothing to do with the movie and everything to do with how it shaves as seen in the commercial below. Produced 1971 - 1972.

5th variant

Style 1 - This one was sold as as the Stick Schick and is also referred to as an L2. Produced 1973 - 1975.

6th variant
Style 1 - This was sold as a Schick Grip and is also referred to as an L3. Produced 1975 - 1976.

This last razor I am unsure how to classify but it is important for other reasons. This is a Japanese L1. I don't know how it shaves for sure but it is the razor upon which the modern Type L clone injectors are copies of. It has a unique feature in that the guard has teeth in it unlike the US, Canadian or European Type L1 razors.

I recently scored a small lot of Schick Injectors and found one Easy Rider with teeth on the safety bar.

Thanks, that was a very good post. I have a couple, of which one is possible the "Golden Schick" and it has a brown handle. I have one question also. There are some symbols under the head of the Schick L1. I have two L1s, and I wonder if anyone knows what these symbols represent, if anything? The silver head has a "4" under the head and the gold has "A" or "K" and then "7".
Hello! I found a gold Schick with a brown handle like yours in my grandma's sewing stuff yesterday (haven't cleaned it yet). I haven't been able to find any other documentation of this combination aside from your post here. It's been almost 4 years, but did you ever find any other information or any other examples of this model?

As far as the symbols go; mine has 'PATENTED' on the left and what I believe to be either 'K47' or 'H47' on the right side, and when I compare it to yours that seems to be the same as well. I'm not sure but I think this code might refer to the patent this model was filed under, and not just a manufacturing stamp.

Would love to learn more about this! I've so far only been somewhat collecting vintage Gillette DE razors, so the whole world of SE and Schick specifically is new to me, I haven't even figured out how to shave with this and I still need to buy a blade cartridge with key online haha

I think you can see all the comments here in the thread. I have not heard anything else.. It is a very good razor, as are all L1:s.
