What's new

Schick TTO

Just received this new (to me) Schick TTO.

Still havent tried it iet but its a a beauty. The skratchs on the case were fotographed by the seller to show the worst case senario, in hand those can only be seen at some angles, mint condition.

Information would be apreciated, thank you

I have seen that razor called the 'schick special' and also called the 'schick platinum' (the latter, because of the platinum blades that came with some razors, following in the tradition of the schick krona which came with krona blades before the razor itself was called the krona). These came in a box of 12, and the box calls them "SPECIAL" DOUBLE EDGE RAZOR AND BLADE OFFERS, with special in quotation marks just as I typed.
Here is one NIP.

The "Dutch" monniker has been associated with these razors because most seem to have come out of Schick's factory in the Netherlands. Until recently, all the ones for sale seemed to either be from there (with Schick NV blades like in your picture), or they were prototypes that usually came from the CT area where Schick's headquarters are. About a year ago, there were a bunch sold out of Canada (also shown in this thread) with simpler cardboard packaging. Note the Canadian ones are a slightly different color. Where the Canadian ones were assembled is anyone's guess, as there is no origin statement. Thus, they could have been assembled in Canada (maybe the US, a real long-shot) or the Netherlands. IIRC the Canadian ones were made around 1970-71 based upon markings on the cases, as I bought a few from Canada......It is unclear that this razor was sold in the US, but it was patented here.....

Very good insight, i do know that about the Dutch one, but not the Canadian one, thanks.

Thank you all for the information. I really enjoy shaving with it, I had doubts about it for beeing made of plastic, but it´s a fantastic shaver and very intuitive, got a bbs the first time with it
