Schick Injector Question

I aquired an old Schick/Eversharp injector with an original pack of blades that are unopened. The outer part of the container is rusty, so I'm sure there's some rust on the blades. The question is, is there only one system for Schick injectors? Will any Schick injector package work with any Schick injector razor? I'd like to buy some blades just to give this razor a try.

Injector blades are all interchangeable. If the old cartridge is rusty, I'd be reluctant to use the blades. Buy a new pack and give it a try. It's a great shaving system.

Most of the packages of the single edge blades should work fine as long as they have the key (the long, protruding thing on the package that fits into the back of the razor to allow the blade to be inserted.
You should not have a problem as most have the same design, i assume. There are much more knowledgeable gentlemen on here who can confirm this. You should be able to pick up the blades at most pharmacies. Good luck.

The dispensers won't work with the early A,B and C models, but they are fairly rare. If yours has the Eversharp name on it then yes, any dispenser with the key will work.

I have no success getting the plastic dispensers from EMS (a lab supply company) to successfully insert a blade into may PAL adjustable. Works okay with my Schicks, but the PAL is a no go. It's odd , but there's something different about the design of that dispenser that doesn't jibe with the PAL That or I'm spastic. :wink2:

I have about about 30 packs of PAL injector blades that I purchased as NOS but they are stuck and unless you use tools to push them out they won't !

Bottom line stick to schick branded blades as the others have had problems with the dispensers.

Design flaw of the plastic dispensers, they just don't catch right half the time, it's not just you.

I know, part of an old story, but not everyone has heard every bit . . I had my choice of several bladed razors from my first blade-shave. An electric had been a real bust for me then. For a year and a half, roughly, as my need to shave progressed from weekly to every other day, I used what I now believe was a Gem Junior, then I tried the electric for awhile. It didn't shave at all closely, and generated a lot of irritation.

I may have already misplaced the SE during the weeks of suffering with the electric, but my memory is just too foggy in that regard. I bought a Schick I-model, and in my memory, it was black-handled, not white or off-white. I cannot recall any lever to release the spring for cleaning. I remember buying Pal blades in a Pal dispenser, and I remember a long-handled J model razor, but those were the only blades there were. Either Schick's or the Pals. Looking at all of the razors I've seen pictured lately, that Pal / Personna sold for the Injector market, none looks even slightly familiar, as though I didn't even see them on a peg near the Schick razors.

What's most sad about the fragmentary recollections, is that I am fairly sure I went back to using an electric shaver for a couple of years, at least, between using the Schick Injectors and getting into Gillette adjustables.

I don't remember seeing any new SE razors for sale from anyone in any pharmacies or supermarkets during the 1950s / 1960s. My impression now is that I thought then than no one made them any more. When I ran across the Micromatic I have now, its good looks surprised me. As nice-looking as the Stainless steel Pal razors are, I'd bet I would have tried one, had I seen it / been fully aware of it back in the 60s.

Speaking of the Pal Adjustable, I have one and it doesn't seem to shave anything, regardless of the setting (well, virtually nothing anyway!). Did I get a duff one off BST?

My comment was more generic; stainless steel is the limit to which I went. However, at least one member here has offered the opinion that quality control at ASR / Pal may have been lacking in regard to the Pal Injector razors of that (adjustables) type.

The only injector that I'm using in my current rotation is a Non-adjustable PAL that I acquired as NOS!

Yes, at times I have a problem putting a blade in it but I think it has more to do with the blade cartridge. I very gently giggle the blades through the top opening with a small flathead screwdriver and it "frees" the blades up.

On cutting, my PAL whacks off my whiskers - which are moderately heavy. I'm happy with mine.
