Scent Suggestions

I've recently been looking for a shaving soap with a scent that would be good for a young person (I'm in high school). I currently use AoS sandalwood or Van der Hagen but I find AoS to be a bit "older" smelling (although excellent in its own right). I'm also open to creams. Does anyone have any suggestions for a more youthful scent?

i'm in the same boat you are. i like speick a lot and i dont think its kind of an "old man smell". proraso is also good, i love the smell of eucalyptus and the fresh feeling afterward is priceless

Thanks for the quick replies.

MR. BurmaShave, I read a few reviews of the Cade soap and they all seem to be positive. Its good to hear that the scent is what I'm looking for. There is a L'Occitane store near by, I'll definitely check it out.

sero-sed-serio, considering its extremely popular status, I'm certain that I will try proraso. There seems to be a great deal of praise for this cream.

What about MWF? It's practically scentless (if that's a word). Go ahead, MWF fans, barage me with what a wonderful, subtle scent MWF has. :001_smile

Id' think many of the citrus-scented soaps would fit your criteria....DR Harris "Arlington" comes to mind, as does T&H "1805".
The question always arises: "modern" is an entirely subjective description that has no consistency from one shaver to another.

I'm sorry, but what is MWF?

mitchels wool fat. its scent is subtle and soapy.

im a young guy, and old man scents are my mainstay: brut, tabac, old spice, imperial leather etc

younger scents are normally more 'ocean' i suppose, t&h 1805 and trafalgar might work, though they have some spice to them, which puts them a little old man too

Thanks so much for the replies.

Unfortunately, I have never tried T&H, although I have always wanted to. Now I know which scent to start at. (Interesting note: I was in NYC today at the new Titanic exhibit and in one of the displays there was a jar of T&H shaving cream - violet I believe)

The D.R. Harris suggestion seems interesting too. They seem to be good soaps.

A soapy scent seems to be in line with what I'm looking for so I might give MWF a try.

If you're heading to a mall to check out the Cade, perhaps swing by C&E; they may have some good deals, and they definitely carry several distinct scents -nomad, sandalwood, sienna- to pick from!

The T&H sampler is a good idea - from what I've heard, their scents are excellent. C&E is probably a good place to go - the local mall has one as well as AoS, L'Occitane and C.O. bigelow (they sell Trumpers) stores. So I should be able to try most of the suggestions (of course I could order online, but I wont be able to smell them first) Thanks again

I also recommend a T&H sampler. You can buy it from their website. You get shave cream, aftershave, and cologne for $16. You should also get a Taylor of Old Bond Street Sampler from Shavingessentials.net
