Scarface!

Yes you guessed it! First big scar with the straight.

I was using the John Heiffor this morning and it didn't feel right on stroke #1.

I figured, meh, I will shave anyway...:001_rolle

I got a small nick near the chin (didn't notice it until I got to work). I never had anything bigger than those before.

The bigger one, that was the last stroke ATG from behind the ear to the jawline. The razor skipped and landed where the line is.

It didn't hurt, even the AS Splash wasn't so bad. I felt that I cut myself yes but nothing special. A bit of blood but not much either.

SWMBO just took the picture (I didn't this morning) and she's traumatized at the moment I think! So, in true fashion as Dunny never believes me when I say something without pictures, here it is!

Thank god it did not hurt because it looks pretty nasty. What do you do when this type of thing happens? Do you shave with a DE for a while or do proceed as if nothing had happened?

It's not as bad as it looks!

I didn't see any blood so I re-did the stroke, the edge was catching on the fresh cut, of course so I stopped there.

I re-lather, washed my brush, razor. I saw a red line, nothing serious. Washed with cold water, AS and voila.

I don't have a DE anymore...

Hey, that's a pretty poor shaving job their Luc. I think I need to find another straight mentor.

PS: The nostril could do with a bit of a trim.

Sorry to hear of your unfortunate incident Luc.
You have to figure at some point or another, a moment of distraction or a blade which isn't just so, that these things happen from time to time.
I'm glad that it wasn't more serious, and I hope that you're not put off by it. I know what you mean about cuts and SWMBO though, that's the hardest thing to deal with actually, more so than the cut.
Hope you heal up soon, and be careful around those cuts when shaving while you heal up.

HAHAHAHA

point and laugh kids!

In all seriousness (well, not completely) most of us have reminders of being distracted or from learning the ropes.

This just means you are part of the club. We may now issue you the secret handshake.

A warning to us all, i honed a razor last night and tried it this morning, a bit jumpy, so i stopped using it, you need to show your scar off now:thumbup1:

I've had a couple of those before. My colleagues have been nice enough not to ever mention them :001_smile

But knowing that it's a challenge makes it more fun, right?

It doesn't look to deep and should hopefully not leave any permanent scarring. I've given myself a couple of cuts both with my straight and DE razors and all have healed up with no major traces left behind.

It is a shame but looks like it will heal quickly. Pretty impressive how sharp razors are and how a little bump on the skin will open it right up. Despite all the little cuts and nicks I will never give up my straights. Better luck in the future sir.

You mean that isn't supposed to happen everyday?

Merely a flesh wound; today you are a man!

That reminds me the first time I tried shaving against the grain...:blushing:
Stay out of the sun so you don't scare or cover it. I hope you feel better soon.

And Why did I just buy my first straight and it's on its way for professional honing? Maybe I should stay DE? LOL. I haven't been this nervous about something in a very long time...

Good thing is that they heal up really fast, since the cut is made with such an precise, sharp edge.
I did a similar cut with the tip of a spike a few months back & that isn't showing anymore, so you have to find other ways to get cool scars :biggrin1:

But I do have a scar from shaving, just at the tip of my chin.
ANd it happened in a heavily ironic way.

I was shaving using my ultra-sharp Eskilstuna wedge that Bart honed for me, just feeling good & I had plenty of time.
I got to the chin-part & did all these funny faces, like sticking your chin out like Pop-Eye, when my lovely little wife said something from the other room, but since my face was all contorted I didn't answer, she called again, I didn't answer, just murmured something between my teeth, like "hold on"
Third time she said the same thing in a louder voice & added "could you pleas e answer, I'm on my way to work", she absolutely knows that when I shave I sometimes can't answer, because I'm busy concentrating on looking like a village idiot, but this time she just couldn't care less.
Now, of course I never get annoyed by my sweet & loving SWMBO, but I must admit that by know my concentration had wandered away a bit.
And the same time she opened the door to the bathroom the blade took a chunk out of my chin.
I turned around, looking at her & I felt the blood drip from my chin.
"O MY GOD! YOU ARE BLEEDING BAD!!"
Yes, I know honey, don't worry. It's ok I said
But what did you say, I didn't hear you? Tell me, you got my attention now...
"Ah nothing important, I'll call you from work, gotta go, bye!"
Oh, and you should be more careful you know, those things are dangerous if you aren't paying attention"

And out the door she went.
My sweet angel :biggrin1:

That one left a scar that still is visible, small, but every time I see it in the mirror it reminds me of that morning...
