$16 huh.

Thats probably reaonable. I've seen anywhere from 10-25 bucks, I think the most I've ever paid is 20 though. AOS charges a lot more than that, a lot more.

Thats great. V's franchises of Barbershops are also traditional barbershops with modern twists , you can see them online ,they started in Arizona and I think have expanded to Southern CA. The interiors shown online are trying to capture something of the old men's barbershop and look alright.

Here in Oakland, at Johnson's Barbershop , Reverend Johnson does a brisk business giving straight shaves with a shavette. He uses a brush, mug soap , hot towels and Gabels rolling cream as a preshave. He charges $10 . He has said he loses money giving straight shaves and that customers today don't have the patience to sit through one though.

Cool, thanks guys! Hanzo, how's The Reverend's shaves, though? I'm near there, and was wondering where there was a good barber shop for a shave...

I have never had a straight shave there only haircuts. But I am in there every 2 weeks and Rev. Johnson is always doing shaves. The other barber Ms. Mina also does shaving , she's 82 .They are open only from Thurs thru Saturday. Its really a old barbershop from back in the day ,its been there 30 years. Its really a stones throw from the Shaver Shop on Telegraph , I know you know the area.Phone number 5103790398 or visit 4539 MLK Jr. Way Oakland, CA. 94609. You can call and talk to the Reverend about a shave though I am sure you DON'T need a appointment.

I do indeed know the area, thanks for the info! I'd be a wee bit scared about letting an 82 year old near my throat with a straight though, lol...
